Chapter 6
LEA
This couldn't be happening; it had to be figment of my imagination. Someone couldn't have just addressed me? Could they? It was obvious that this person was talking to someone else, since it was a pretty busy park.
But the stranger did mention Cane's name. I mean, that had to be a clue, right? Maybe it could have been my imagination, but Cane is a very common name, isn't it? He obviously wasn't calling after the Cane I knew. Many people could have that name, couldn't they?
So the answer was simple: This guy definitely wasn't talking to me.
"Um, Hello?"
I froze. The voice was right behind me now, it was beautiful, and sang like a mesmerizing chorus of bells. I had to turn around and see if this was actually happening, but of course, my body wouldn't move. It wasn't because my body was blacking out. It was because my brain seemed to be detached from my body, preventing me from moving a muscle. Come on Lea, turn around, I thought to myself.
I took a couple of deep breaths to calm my nerves before I slowly turned around to face my new...acquaintance.
The sight of him hit me like a ray of sunshine and I wasn't over exaggerating either. The sun, shining a yellowy-orange, was blazing across the sky as it started to set behind the stranger's head, shadowing the details of his features therefore causing him to become more of a silhouette. Despite the lack of light, I could still make out some of his dramatic features.
This boy, well more like a man than a boy due to his height and defined muscles, had tan skin that showed evidence of many hours in the sun. His hair was shaggy and had a messy, bed-head style but was not long enough to hide his ears. The end of his hair flipped up naturally, causing the sun's rays to hit it at the right angle, showing blond highlights through his naturally light brown colour. His oval-shaped face was young and he had a dash of freckles on his nose.
The clearing of his throat made me realized how long I'd been staring at him. This action made me look straight at the floor, my cheeks flaming with colour. Answer him, Lea, say something!
"I,.. um... I..." I mumbled, unable to get my words out.
I... um, what? Ugh, leave it to a cute boy to make me act like a complete fool. What? Cute boy! This is not the time to be thinking of cute boys. Especially since the last one broke your heart beyond repair.
"Get a hold of yourself, Lea..." I sighed, hoping that my company was out of earshot.
I looked up through my bangs, trying not to make it look obvious that I was trying to make eye contact. My eyes saw his, leaving me in awe at the beautiful site.
His eye colour was an olive-green, outlined with a pretty light brown. They seemed to be like liquid, since I was drowning in them and was unable to look away. His eyes looked distant, though, like he was distracted. Even though his body was facing my direction, his eyes looked right past me... as if I wasn't really there.
I knew it! I knew this all had to be a dream or scene made up in my head! I started to sob, feeling the warm tears streak down my face. Who knew I had so many tears to spare, since I've already cried so much already. You'd think one would run dry eventually. I sat on the ground, my arms crossed in frustration as I let out an over dramatic grunt. I knew it was childish but, who cares? No one was there to see me...
"You know, if you groan like that, you're going to cause a scene and completely embarrass yourself." The stranger muttered, now towering above me.
I shook my head, trying the block out the voices that my brain creating to tease me.
