It had been a week since Elena met Oper. A week since she wandered into the catacombs. A week since she had been invited to attend Monster high. A week since her life had changed forever.

Well, maybe she was being a bit dramatic, but that was what it felt like to her. She doubted she would be the same person she was before she attended this school once she graduated, but then again, no one was the same after they graduated from any school.

All that aside, Elena was very nervous.

She had forgotten to ask Oper for his coffin number, but she doubted that her call would go through if she used her iPhone anyway, so she hadn't talked to him since last week. When she... no no no no, she was not going to think about that. If she did, her head might implode in on itself.

She had only had interaction with the monster world through the paperwork her and her father had spent the last few days filling out (the staff at New Salem High were not at all happy to find out that Elena was transferring to some 'mysterious' other school before she even started at theirs, causing them to fill out a crap ton of last minute paperwork so she could attend what they all knew was Monster High, despite the fact Elena was human and no one had said anything about what school she was attending now. So much for making a good impression on the locals.) If it wasn't for all that, she might have thought it was all a dream. Well, the paperwork and Oper. The things she felt around him were as real as it got.

No no no, what had she just told herself?

'Maybe it isn't too late to chicken out of this...', she thought as she and her parents stood at the edge of the school grounds, watching the very colorful student body entering the building. Her mother looked awed by the school's grand size and excited for her daughter, her father however, looked like he always did when he was panicking; a stone cold expression with his eyes swimming with fear, apprehension and hesitance for his daughter to leave. He was okay with all this when it all felt so far away, but now that it was actually happening he was having to resist the urge to grab his daughter and wife and run back through the window arch. And from the look on Elena's face, she might let him.

"You know, we can always say you died of pneumonia and homeschool you.", the blonde man said with a serious expression, turning to look down at his daughter. Eiko swatted her husband on the arm for suggesting that.

"Ash!", the beautiful brunette cried indignantly, disappointed but not surprised by Ash's remarks. The green eyed man shrugged.

"What? It's true, and she looks like she wants the earth to swallow her whole!", he said, gesturing to his terrified mini-me, who stood ramrod straight and shaking in her black converse. Sweat made Elena's purple bat print hoodie feel humid, and her black ripped jeans felt starchy and stiff. She wasn't even inside and she was already on sensory overload.

She was also overthinking her outfit. She had thought that since it was Halloween all year in this school, she would fit in wearing her Halloween clothes, but what if she just looked bad? What if she was perpetuating a stereotype about what monsters wore? What if she was being insensitive?

In short, the poor girl was dieing inside.

Eiko took a good look at her daughter, seeing the nervous wreck her usually excitable daughter had turned into. Sighing, Eiko gently took her hand into hers.

"You're going to be fine, sweetheart. You're kind, gentle, intelligent and beautiful. Anyone who doesn't like you is missing out. And even if you have trouble getting to know people, you still have Oper. He promised to look out for you.", the brown eyed woman said reassuringly, kneeling a bit to get down to her 5'4 daughter's level.
