'Why do Franky and the others look so upset...?', Elena thought as she looked out over the classroom full of monsters in varying states of shock. Some of which had red faces, which confused Elena.
'Why are they red? Are they mad that I'm here? I hope not.', she silently pleaded, and her nervousness started to show on her face. The blonde put her hands in the kangaroo pocket of her hoodie and began to fidget. Mr. Rotter realized she wasn't going to keep talking and picked up where she left off.
"Mrs. Callenreese has been admitted to Monster High through our new human-monster exchange program. She will be in attendance here for the entirety of her high school scarereer.", the teacher declared loudly, which left most of the class whispering. A boy in the back right corner, someone Elena didn't even notice was there before he drew attention to himself, raised his hand. Mr. Rotter blinked in surprise when he noticed the boy, making it very apparent he hadn't noticed him as well.
"Ah yes, Mr. ...?", he trailed off. The boy put his hand down, a tired look in his glowing golden eyes. The boy had short, fluffy looking bright mint hair with his bangs fading out into a light purple. His skin was pale as a corpse, and his features were soft and delicate. He wore black stud earrings, had two black hoop cartilage piercings on top of his right ear, and had a black choker with a blue crystal the color of his hair hanging from it. He also wore a black t-shirt with a mint green skull in the style of a skullette with some sort of glowing green substance in the eye sockets on the front, black jeans, black combat boots with mint laces, and a mint zip up hoodie that faded to purple at the end. Elena didn't know why, but she felt like she had seen him before.
"Twylo Gracey, and if this is an exchange program, who did we exchange for her?", the monster boy asked. His voice was soft, as if he was used to having to speak quietly, and was stuck in a perpetual state of tiredness. Mr. Rotter frowned.
"Yes well, while we call it an exchange program, Mrs. Callenreese is the only one who will be attending the school of a different species. We intended to dismantle the program, but Headmistress Bloodgood had a senior student vouch for Mrs. Callenreese, and he said she was an exceptional person who was more than happy to attend here with all of you.", the zombie replied, and the boy now known as Twylo nodded, seemingly satisfied with the answer. But even when he faded back into the shadows of the classroom, Elena could still feel those glowing green eyes looking down at her. Watching her. And oddly enough, she couldn't bring herself to be concerned about it. Mr. Rotter's expression then turned stern.
"I expect all of you to treat her with the same respect you give to your other classmates. She has just as much of a right to be here as any of you, and harassment or taunting of any kind will be met with detention.", the teacher declared, and a few of the students began to look wary. He then dropped his stern expression and turned to smile at Elena, the comfort he was trying to convey apparent through his green and rotting flesh.
"You may return to your seat, Mrs. Callenreese.", he said gently. Elena smiled back, nodded and went back to her seat between Franky and Clawdius. Opening her notebook to a clean page, she directed her focus to the blackboard.
"Now, open your textbooks to page eight, and we shall begin our lesson on the great monster migration.", Mr. Rotter said, which earned him a groan from several of his students.
Several minutes passed. The sound of pages turning filled the room, and as her teacher droned on about vampire and witch hunts, Elena looked up from her notes for a quick mental break. Looking around, she kept an ear out for what her teacher was saying as she observed her classmate's concentrated and frustrated expressions. When her gaze fell upon Draculaur, Cepos and Clawdius, Elena jumped a bit and blinked in surprise when she noticed their awed and curious expressions.
