"Sunrise...are you sure about this? Many cats have said you are a one of the strongest warriors. Are you sure this is the right thing? Are you just pushing yourself because of something you were told?" Flamestar wasn't too happy when Sunrise said she wanted to become the medicine cat apprentice. There was a certain something in his voice that Sunrise couldn't understand.

She hesitated. Pushing myself because of something I was told? No, that's not it! "Yes, Flamestar, I'm sure. Please let me."

Flamestar turned away. There was silence for a few moments. "Yes, if that is your wish. I cannot force you to stay a warrior. Come." He sighed deeply as the two cats stood on Darkrock. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath the Darkrock for a Clan meeting!" ShadowClan gathered.

Sunrise bit her lip slightly. What will they say? Spottedleaf, is this really my destiny? She didn't recieve an answer.

The cats below tilted their heads in confusion when they saw Sunrise.

"I have brought you here to inform you that our warrior Sunrise would no longer like to be a warrior." Flamestar meowed tensly. Shocked meows sounded. "She would like to train as a medicine cat apprentice. Nightleaf, would you be so kind to take Sunrise on as your apprentice?"

Nightleaf stepped forward. "I would. I easily believe she will become one of the best medicine cats in history."

"Hold on." Moonshadow? Moonshadow had objected. "I'm not saying my sister will be a bad medicine cat, but I strongly believe she should stay a warrior. She has trained a lot, and she will accomplish more if she does."

Stonepaw nodded. "Sunrise saved me from getting killed by a ThunderClan cat! She's loyal and I agree with Moonshadow!"

More cats chorused with Moonshadow and Stonepaw. "Silence! Sunrise has chosen and you cannot go against her will. Nightleaf, take Sunrise tonight to go to the Moonstone so she can be accepted by StarClan."

"Yes, Flamestar, thank you." Sunrise and Nightleaf touched noses.

"Meeting dismissed." Flamestar said, jumping off the Darkrock.

At the Moonstone~~

"Looks like you got a new apprentice, huh?" Fawnshade smiled as Nightleaf and Sunrise walked in.

The other medicine cats stared. Ripplestorm, the RiverClan medicine cat, mewed, "Wait...isn't that Sunrise?"

Nightleaf nodded. "Can I get on with the ceremony?"

The medicine cats all nodded. "Go on."

"Sunrise, is it your wish to enter the mysteries of StarClan?"

Is it? No, it's really not. Oh Spottedleaf, how do I do this? I can't lie but I can't tell them the truth!

'Just say yes. Everything will be fine.'

Okay, if you say so. "It is."

"Warriors of StarClan, I present you to this apprentice. She has chosen the path of a medicine cat. Grant her your wisdom and insight so that she will understand the ways of a medicine cat and heal her Clan in accordance with your will."

"Sunrise! Sunrise!"

"Now go share dreams with StarClan," Nightleaf explained.

"O-Okay." Sunrise sat down by the Moonstone. It was cold, with her belly being against the hard floor. She touched her nose to the beautiful glowing stone.

~~

"Spottedleaf!" When she had woken up, Sunrise was in a colorful and warm place.

"You have done a great job so far. I'm very proud." Spottedleaf purred. "I have to tell you something. Listen very closely."

"I will."

"The rise of the Sun and the shadow of the Moon together will defeat the great evil of the forest of darkness." Spottedleaf's voice didn't sound normal.

"What are you talking about? Is that a prophecy?" But she was alone. And before she knew it, she was awake and back at the cold Moonstone.

~~

"How did it go?" Nightleaf asked.

"W-Well,"

"Okay. Well, we need to get back."

"K."

Back at the ShadowClan camp~~

"It's pretty late so we should get to rest. There's your new nest."

Sunrise nodded and curled up. The nest was soft. Falling asleep, all she could think about is the prophecy.

'Do not worry. It is not time for that right now. Go to sleep.'

Yes, Spottedleaf. But the voice was different. Mom?

She could see a smile in her mind. 'Go to sleep.'
