Chapter 9 - Ultimate Soldier

Kiara dashed through the forest, ducking through trees and going to narrow gaps as she controlled her breath. Her expression as she does this is blank… Tired even…

Long gone is the desperation she once felt… Grey Serpent's usage of the Assaka over and over again led her to find out it's weakness fast

'It would only be a matter of time before he switches my opponents…' Kiara thought to herself… While Grey Serpent does change it up a little bit from time to time, he always somehow reverts back to Assaka for some unknown reason

The Assaka suddenly tore through the trees as it charged towards Kiara… Speak of the devil huh

Kiara stopped her dash before standing still, awaiting the Assaka to come to her instead

Kiara's chest rises and falls with each heavy breath, her stance relaxed yet tense, betraying the exhaustion that lingers beneath her stoic exterior. As the Assaka charges towards her, she remains unmoving, her eyes locked onto the approaching threat. There's a weariness in her gaze, a fatigue that seeps into her very being…

And then… As the Assaka reached towards her, Kiara lunged her zweihander towards the Assaka before planting the end of the hilt to the ground, intent on turning the Assaka to its back by using its own momentum against him via a lever

But it won't work if she doesn't use herself as an anchor to lift the Assaka up…

So, Kiara planted her feet to the ground before she tried lifting the Assaka off from the ground with all her her might and assisted by the Assaka's own momentum

The Honkai beast roared as it was lifted to the air before eventually falling back to the ground with a loud and noticeable explosion of dust and dirt

Kiara inhaled sharply, momentarily losing her breath from the excess exertion she just did before she lifted her zweihander

She looked at the Assaka struggling to get up as the dust slowly settled… Kiara held her sword tightly before she pushed herself forward to the Assaka, using its arms as stepping stones before she swung downwards, aimed toward one of the openings in its armour in its neck

The Assaka's roars echoed through the forest as Kiara cut through a large portion of its neck

The job isn't finished yet

Kiara, seeing as the Assaka would attempt to get her off from its body, immediately swung downwards again as soon as she can

This time, it decapitated the Assaka entirely

Kiara then stepped back, her breaths now coming in harsh gasps as she looked at the slowly dissipating body of the Assaka with cold, tired and distant eyes

Slowly but surely, the simulated arena then starts to dissolve to reveal the oh so familiar grey walls of the facility before the nearby doors open with Grey Serpent walking in

"Impressive, Kiara. Your performance today showed improvement in exploiting your opponent's vulnerabilities." Grey Serpent said "I must say, you are improving at an exceeding rate in that regard."

Kiara glanced at Grey Serpent, her gaze distant and weary. She didn't respond to his calculated praise… It was an empty one

But still, she felt relieved that she won't have to hear any lecture from Grey Serpent at least

Kiara stood up straight before she started walking towards the door. Her usual silent footsteps echoing in the empty and void simulation room

But as she got nearer to Grey Serpent, she felt a slight trepidation but she merely tried to crush them down…
