just like a telenovela
"Where have you been!?"Pope exclaimed, pacing back and forth across the surf shack at the Chateau. Bianca found the Pogues huddled around a piece of paper with some writing scribbled on it.
"What happened to you?" Kiara stood from her seat, eyeing the girl up and down.
"You looked like you got mauled by a bear," Sarah explained gently, her eyebrows drawn together.
Bianca clearly hadn't been successful in concealing her exhaustion. She wasn't sure what gave it away, nor did she care. She could barely think over the ache in her ribs.
Bianca rolled her eyes, "What happened to hi? Hello? How are you?"
The moment JJ's gaze landed on her, his eyes lit up, "Hi, hello, how are you?" He stepped off the wooden wall he was leaning against and greeted her with a chaste kiss on the cheek. "You've got a stick in your hair."
"What?" Bianca pulled back with a frown.
"It's fine," Kiara pulled it out and dropped it to the floor. She brushed through the girl's hair so it appeared more presentable before stepping back, "I got it."
Bianca huffed out a sigh and sagged into JJ's side. The blond boy frowned but didn't complain. She stifled a wince when he wrapped an arm around her waist from behind and allowed her to lean some of her body weight into him.
JJ studied the way Bianca's eyes refused to meet his gaze and how she wrung her hands together. All tell-tale signs something was wrong. He could read her like the back of his hand by now.
"So..?" Sarah shifted on the wooden box she was sitting on. "What happened?"
Bianca hesitated. She didn't want the others to worry about this when they already had so much on their own plates. Besides, this was her doing. She got herself into this mess when she should've just left Barry and his drug-dealing tendencies alone.
