With their bags and pockets filled with gold, John B and Sarah hiked their way back to the cave entrance.
They decided it was best to return for the rest of the treasure, with Big John and the Pogues to share in the glory. Grinning ear to ear, and prepared to relay the good news to his father, John B's heart plummeted when he emerged from the cave.
It was Singh. Sifting through his father's backpack. With his Big John nowhere in sight.
Singh held them at gunpoint on the bank of the cave. He demanded they show him what was in their bag. John B was prepared to fight his way out until Singh shifted the gun to Sarah.
Then, the couple was quick to cooperate. Still, with no sign of Big John, John B opened up the bag, revealing their secret. That they had found El Dorado.
It was then that Singh threatened John B's life if Big John didn't come of out hiding. John B didn't have faith his father would follow through, considering he was willing to let him die earlier.
But just as Singh placed his finger over the trigger, Big John appeared from the darkness carrying an explosive of sorts. The fire crackled between them, inching down the wick as each second ticked by. Big John threatened if any of them were to die, he would make sure this entire cave was blown to bits, El Dorado included.
But Singh didn't believe Big John would give up on the quest he'd been on his entire life, and even John B knew that. So, he offered something he knew Big John couldn't pass up.
The chance to join him. To share the gold.
For a moment, Big John's hand hovered over the grenade, as if he were about to put it out. But in the last second, he hurled it over all their heads right over the entrance to El Dorado with one last thing to say— this is for you, kid.
Big John, Sarah, and John B made a break for it but Singh wasn't ready to let go of his dream yet. He tried to wade through the water before the bomb could detonate, but it was too late.
