Beautiful Monsters

Part 24

"On the first day of class, Jennifer sent all of us a message. It was the last line from Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness. I've got a message of my own to send her," Scott explained to Deucalion. 

He started to take a video, aiming it at the spiral drawn by Ennis many years ago then at himself, a oddly pale looking Alex and Deucalion while saying: "You see this symbol? It's a symbol of revenge. You talk about balance, about saving people. We know what you really want and now you know where to find us."  

The wind was picking up at an alarmingly fast rate and it seemed to be a cloud of sand/mist in front of the distilary. 

Jennifer's outline was seen, then merged into both hers and Derek's. This secretly hurt Alex, yet a part of her couldn't understand why she moved out of it so suddenly. It was like her feelings completely disappeared. 

"What are you doing?" Scott asked whilst Alex just glared, the veins had moved a lot faster after Jennifer started taking things away from her, things that kept her happy enough to fight against them. Only place those glowing veins weren't, was the top half of her neck and her face. 

Derek answered: "This might be hard to believe but I'm actually trying to help you," he turned to Alex, "Both of you." 

"I don't need your help," Alex growled at Derek. 

Deucalion collapsed his cane, took of his jacket and started talking as he shifted into his Alpha form: "Are you ready, Jennifer? Did you gather your herbs? Pray to your ancient gods and your oak trees? Slit a baby's throat, perhaps? Should we show them why you needed to sacrifice nine innocent people just to face me? Or is it 12 now?" 

Alex sneered at the last comment. 

Derek runs at Deucalion. While Deucalion was fighting, Jennifer approached them and tried to use some of her Darach power on Deucalion. He doesn't budge. In fact, he grabs both Derek and her by the throat and lifts them easily off the ground. He throws Derek to the side and when she comes back for more, he throws her to the ground, onto her knees. 

Deucalion ordered Scott to kill her, but he wasn't like that. So Deucalion roared, forcing a shift to take over on Scott. Alex roared back and replied: "I'll do it, Scott wouldn't dare take a life, human or not." 

Jennifer then stated that it wouldn't stop with her, that they'd have to kill the others.... that Alex would have to kill Stiles. 

Deucalion repeats his words just a bit more boldly saying that thier parents are going to die if he doesn't do it. If Scott doesn't become the alpha he was 'meant' to be, a killer. But if there was one thing about Scott McCall it was that when it came to his morals he was just as stubborn as Alex was, so he replied that their parents weren't dead yet. 

"Who's going to save them? Your friends?" Deucalion asked in disbelief. 

"Our pack," Scott stated, smiling at Alex who seemed to light up at the mention. 

Deucalion then tried to force Scott to kill her only for Scott to throw flash/sparkle arrow heads at the ground blinding Deucalion. 

Jennifer was gone and the eclipse had started, Everyones werewolf powers had faded, making Alex let out a breath of release as she had no longer had to fight against it. At least, not for 15 minutes which were now in counting. 

Jennifer appeared, throwing both Scott and Alex away with her powers and started bashing Deucalion's dead against the concrete. Alex's veins reached up her neck by now. Her decision was meant to be made now but she could not do it, not when everything else was at risk. 

She circled around, a machete in hand. Her dicision on keepin one in her boot seethe never failing her. She was almost close enough when Derek re-emerged. He told her that Deucalion didn't know how she looked, he knew the cost of getting Kali in his pack but not the price she paid. So she healed him, smart move from Derek,  Alex thought as she was then too weak to kill him. She ordered Derek to finish him, only Derek refused saying: "Like my mother always said: I'm a predator," Alex joined in on the last part, "I don't have to be a killer."
