Chapter 15

Elena's heart dropped when she heard the pain and urgency in Stefan's command. She ignored his requested and continued toward him, a little more hesitant now.

"Stefan I can't leave you here I came to save you who did this to you what do they want??"

Elena begged, trying to figure out what she'd gotten herself into.
She grabbed his face gently and had to hold back her tears when his eyes met hers, the normally warm and loving green eyes now looked empty and hopeless. A tear escaped her and Stefan slowly lifted his hand to wipe it, the chain around his wrist rattled against his weak, shaking arm.

"He's going to kill us Elena. Both of us. That's why you have to leave."

"What do you mean?? Why does he want that who is it???"

Elena cried, not understanding why someone would just want to murder them for fun. What had they ever done to anyone?
Elena dropped to her knees to join Stefan on the ground, wrapping her arms around him softly to embrace him without causing more pain to his injuries

"I can't let them hurt you anymore Stefan I need you to be okay."

Elena sobbed into his chest

"Elena you have to leave. I love you please you have to, you promised me remember?"

Stefan pleaded to her, his voice sounding raspy and ready to give out while his eyes began to water

Suddenly, the ground started to shake and a bright light was illuminating them. It was then that she realized this looked exactly like the dream she'd had.
She fell back due to the violent earth quake and when she looked forward, Stefan was no longer on the floor in his chains and he didn't look injured where he now stood. The ground became still and she slowly stood up to meet his gaze.
He was staring at her with the empty, lifeless look in his eyes again. But this time it was... different. He almost looked at her as if he didn't even know her.

"Stefan... what's going on?"

She asked softly while she slowly stepped toward him. He smiled at her, a devious smile she'd never seen from Stefan before, and quickly pulled her to him. He then wrapped his hands around her neck and began choking her and laughing, the laugh of an insane person, just like in her dream.

She panicked and tried to fight his grip, thrashing around and choking while the room started to become fuzzy. He released her neck just before she passed out and threw her to the ground. She instinctively reached up to touch her throat, panting out of breath and terrified in shock.

"What's wrong Elena? Dejavu?"

He laughed at her in a condescending tone, bending down towards her to meet her eyes

"What happened to Stefan? What did you do to him did you take over his body? Is he still in there?!"

Elena cried out, terrified by the image of her one true love standing over her after almost just killing her.

He laughed dryly and returned to standing, beginning to pace around as he spoke

"That's a good question well you see, I did to Stefan exactly what you just saw. Chained him, tortured him, almost killed him I had to slow down I didn't realize the guy was eating animal blood and making himself weak. I'm not a vampire so I didn't know all the silly little rules you know."

He said, seeming amused with himself when he saw Elena's still terrified facial expression.

"Who are you?"

"Alright so maybe not a good idea to interrupt me, and you'll find out why that is in a moment, anyways let me continue."

He said, flashing her a smile and turning back to continue his pacing. It was strange how he looked exactly like Stefan yet nothing like him at all due to his mannerisms.
