You and me
on a blanket in the
shaded breeze,
early fall morning
in flannel,
your head is on
my stomach and
we have books to read
and discussions of the
life we lead...
we've finished our
coffee of nutmeg and clove
as we lay near old autumn grove.
The sun nears noon peak
and before heading home
a final treat we'll seek:
milkshakes of cinnamon
and pumpkin spice flavor
are the first taste of
season's change we savor.
I have work soon
in the afternoon
but the moments
and mornings we treasure
intentionally experiencing
the little fall things
will make all autumn season
with you filled with
joy and with pleasure.
