I had never seen Amelia like this before. She was always strong and never needed to be taken care of. To be honest I rather enjoyed looking after her.

I left her lying in bed and headed to the kitchen to prepare some breakfast. She hadn’t eaten since the day before so was very weak and needed something to bring her sugar level back up. I made some toast and eggs and got some orange juice from the fridge.

“Breakfast is...Mel?”

I could hear the shower running so I ran walked through only to find he collapsed on the floor with blood seeping from her head.

“Mel? Mel? Can you hear me? Mel?”

Lifting her off the floor I grabbed my car keys and rushed to the car. Placing her in the front seat and putting a seatbelt on her I race out the driveway and onto the main road. With the car creeping over the speed limit I kept nudging her and shouting her name. Panicked I abandoned the car and carried her inside.

“HELP!” I screamed. “Someone please help me!”

Suddenly people came dashing towards me taking Amelia from me and disappearing into a room down the corridor. I was stuck there like a statue unable to move with shock and fear. A nurse, unaware of what had just happened, came rushing towards me asking if I was ok because of all the blood on my shirt.

“Yes. I’m...I’m fine thanks. Where did they eh? Where is my girlfriend?”

The nurse looked very confused so took me to a cubical where she said I could wait until she knew any more information. After a short period of time she arrived back.

“Jason?”

“Yes. That’s me”

“I have found your girlfriend and she is asking for you.”

“Great where is she?”

“She is just being brought to cubicles if you give me a few more minutes I will come back and get you.”

I couldn’t keep still. My legs were shaking and my head spinning. ‘She must be ok then. If she is coming to cubicles she must be fine.’ I was thinking. Every twitch of the curtain made me jump. Finally the nurse arrived back and took me to Amelia.

“Are you ok?” I asked.

“Yes don’t worry. I’m sorry for scaring you.”

I could see the sincerity in her eyes. So believing her I leaned forward and kissed her.

“You’d think I would know to eat properly being a doctor and all.”

I laughed as did she. She was right. She should have known to eat properly. I was always worried about her eating habits after she told me about her eating disorder when she was a young teenager. She told me all about it one night after a few too many drinks and blackmailed me not to tell anyone. ‘It was out little secret’ she said.

“I’m just glad you are ok now.”

After she fell asleep I left her bedside to get a drink. I don’t know why though because it was horrible. As I walked I wondered what had caused her to work so hard. She said we’d talk about it in the morning but we hadn’t got round to it. I didn’t want to annoy her about it though so I decided to let her be and convinced myself she would tell me all in good time.
