"You can come in now."
I looked up from my phone blankly to a middle-aged woman pushing a tray full of food and drinks and snacks. I suddenly realised I was hungry. She might've seen me staring, because she offered me a pack of dried peas. "Um, go in where, now?"
"The ward. Your girlfriend's hospital room," I nodded quickly and accepted the pack of dried peas. I hadn't eaten anything after my dinner with Sadie. I slept at the police station to get immediate news. "Room 506, get the lift onto the fifth floor and turn right."
"Thank you," I took the stairs instead. The room was small enough for two people. Two set of drawers by her bed on each side, her bed in the middle and another spare bed for people to sleep there. "Love, how you doing?"
"Ollie, go with the team," She urged as I placed my hand on top of hers. "Please. There's no need for you to not having to train and prepare for the last few days here."
"But I can't leave you here either," Sadie looked more fragile than ever. "There's no reason I should and shouldn't. It's my own choice. What did the doctors say?"
"They said I could go home, but I need to get some rest for a week or two before I can officially go out like a free person again," She took her bag and slipped it over her shoulder while walking out slowly. "Can we get some food first? I'm starving."
"The nurse offered me dried peas," I showed her the packet.
"No, I want something more specific, something like fried rice with eggs and tofu," I took her bag and held her hand. "I'm so weak. I can't even shout at you because you're carrying your bag for me."
"It's what a gentleman does, don't they?" We both chuckled. "When's Prom?"
She raised her eyebrows. "Well, straight after Spa, I think."
"Great, got your dresses ready?" I asked.
"I haven't had time yet, my timetable's full of stuff and I've got to manage t-the funeral things as well..." Her voice failed and faltered. "I'm sorry. I can't manage so many deaths at the same time."
"Stop thinking about it, you were almost killed as well," She nodded silently. "I'll help you out on this one. Why don't I pick one for you?"
"You have taste?"
"Rude, look what I'm wearing," I sighed. "I don't look that bad."
"You don't look bad, I was kidding," Sadie giggled and pulled me in for a hug. "You'll pick out a dress for me, and I'll take a rest from life if I've got to."
"I mean, the doctors informed you that you had to go back to Chelmsford for your rest, didn't they?"
"They did," Sadie pursed her lips. "But I want to be with you."
"After two weeks, that's the limit, I'll be back from Formula 2 for the break," I got back to the hotel as I sat her down on the bed. "Get some sleep. I'll get you a plane ticket."
"Ollie-"
"Get some rest, I said," I pulled the curtains in together as she changed into some more comfortable clothes in the toilet. "Make sure your completely covered in the blankets."
"I promise you that," She gently pulled herself on the bed and closed her eyes. "Ollie?"
"Yes?" I turned around, my hands still on the keyboard of the laptop.
"Do I have to go?"
"It was your choice," I bit my lip. "But what's best for you is some of my Mum's nice cooking and soup. She knows how to take care of people once it comes to being hurt."
"Can't I stay with you?" Silence and hesitation.
"I don't know, it's best if you get some rest and fresh air back home," Sadie started to complain but I shook my head. "I'll see you straight after Spa, alright?"
"Ollie please," She pleaded.
"If you want to get better, it's the only thing that can help, love," I climbed on to the bed with her and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Just get some rest and I'll think about it, alright?"
Her eyes averted to the curtains, but closed them and let out a shaky breath.
I turned back to the laptop screen, my hand still scrolling on the plane ticket area. I scrolled down a bit more, and clicked on one, then chose the seat. I wouldn't think about it either.
Click. Confirm.
It was done.

"Are you sure?"
I was about to kill Ollie for the price of the plane ticket.
"Business Class?" My eyes widened in shock as I was forced into the section. "Can I get a refund back to the card that paid this? Switch to Economy?"
"Ma'am, I'm afraid you need to get back in your seat, we're about to get ready to fly," The flight attendant urged. "Press that button if you need any help or just aren't happy about your seat."
I opened my phone and set it to flight mode, immediately opening my notifications centre to a text from Ollie. I wasn't hurt badly or anything, but he was worried.
Feel happy now?
- OllieShould've saved your money, idiot I'm not hurt
- Sadie.You're not happy?
- OllieI am, just shut up
- SadieMake me
- OllieI sighed and turned my phone off, putting it face down on the table in front of me. Even if I wanted to get a refund for him, it would be useless. He would just transfer the money to my bank account instead. I was stupid for trusting him with the tickets. But after all...
"You need anything, Miss?" The flight attendant asked me again.
"I'm fine, I'm fine," She sensed my annoyance and left immediately after apologising for interrupting. I closed the panel to some privacy and picked up a small bag of peanuts to eat from. Placing my headphones on and connecting it to the screen, I chose a song.
I was enjoying myself until the next song came up.
Where did I hear this song? I remembered listening to it in the car with Maddy, but then the memories came flowing back. We were singing ever so happily when the song came on the radio as Mum turned the sound on.
Oh yes, Perfect by Ed Sheeran as usual.
The table vibrated from another phone notification again, and I turned it back on, the screen lighting up the dark plane.
You having a good time?
- OllieIm okay
- SadieHe went offline. I knew he needed sleep like I did.
I shut my eyes again.
