CHAPTER 22

Nanami was listening all this time although he could only hear the loud shouts and not the whispers. He heard what Y/n had yelled at Gojo but he decided not to intervene. He wanted to pummel Satoru out of his condo but he knew better than that; not to meddle with them. Thus, he remained by the confines of his office.

Soon he got out of his office from upstairs to see what was happening with the two, he was expecting rather quiet and awkward people forcing themselves to act civil but it was not. He saw an annoyed Y/n with her folded arms on her chest and Satoru was kneeling rather apologetically with his lips in a pout.

"I said I was sorry, didn't I?" Satoru whined childishly, unable to look her in the eyes.

"Sorry? You went here without the complete lesson plans." Y/n growled, her brows twitched from annoyance. "What are you planning to teach me afterwards? Wizardry?"

"I got a few lessons, but..." Satoru sadly unwrapped a chocolate bar before taking a bite. Too stressed out to deal with fuming Y/n. "We can cut this class as of today and I'll make another lesson plan for you. The president said in the meeting that he'll send me everything I need so I thought he'll send me a lesson plan for you."

Y/n sighed, despite having that ardent conversation with him earlier, she can't deny that this is the Satoru she missed. The pervert yet gentleman who knows his boundaries. The intelligent yet dumbass at the same time. The childish and professional side of him. Those contrasts and unpredictability she saw in him made him appealing to her eyes.

She indeed had fallen for this man.

But no, this was not the time for love. Satsujin was still out there, she and her sister were still in danger.

She sighed for the nth time. Now that she thought about it, Satoru was drowning with work. He had to teach since he's a professor. He had to investigate since he's a police officer, and he had to go and check on Yuki since that was his assignment, and now she was added to his list of tasks; he had to tutor her.

That was more than a lot of work.

She could even see the dark bags forming under his eyes, and she knew if this continued, he'd look way older than her. "Hang in there."

Nanami darted his attention to the path in front of him until he felt the phone in his pocket vibrate as he got water from his fridge. He looked at it and almost spit his drink when he saw the email. "The fuck?!"

Y/n wanted to help Gojo as she thought of how busy he was but at this point, she doesn't know how. "It's fine. Just take a break. See you—"

"Gojo, head to Yaga's headquarters. NOW!" Nanami said loudly from the kitchen. "What the fuck did you do this time?" He briskly walked to the living area while holding his phone, still reading the rest of the email.

"I didn't do anything bad... probably." Satoru replied cluelessly.

Nanami rolled his eyes and tidied himself a bit before heading to the door, "What are you still waiting there? Move!" He yelled. "I'm sorry Y/n but I'll have to borrow your useless professor who didn't even have any lesson plan for you."

"Hey! That's mean." Satoru jogged by his side. "See ya, Y/n. I'll buy you food when I get back."

With that Y/n left alone with the solitude of Nanami's condo. "At least two ruckus were gone."

Nanami drove to the HQ of TPD and while they were on the road, Satoru couldn't help but feel that Nanami was quite distracted, taking sharp turns and pushing aggressively at the honk.
