(7 Years after Selene & Salvatore met)
"Mom I gotta go to school. Running late... bye!" Selene shouted out to her mother while running out of the house with an apple in her hand.
Salvatore was waiting outside in his car that he got on his 20th birthday. It was their daily routine. He woke up 30 mins before his schedule to drop Selene to school and then drive back passing by their house to go to his college.
He doesn't remember when he started doing this, maybe since forever. He could never trust her being safe unless he is sure himself.
Selene opened the door and walked in. She gave Salvatore a small peck on his cheeks and sat comfortably. "Salv, you don't have to do this every day. Some of my friends have been telling me that they can drop me off themselves. It is on the way. Stop being such a big brother", she rolled her eyes.
"Nobody gets to drop my little girl except this guy right here," Salv said with a goofy smile. Selene just shrugged it off. No hopes here.

"Damn chick, you look HOT!" Rick one of her friends hugged Selene a little too tightly. "I am just studying the human body. Have you ever thought about how this body of ours heals itself so quickly and how our major organs are so perfectly aligned with each other all helping us to do something or the other? It's so...", Alice just cut her passionate rumble "Selene darling nobody cares. Let's just say you ate salads and workout for that hot body."
"But that's not true" Selene whispered ever so softly and slightly discouraged about how nerdy she is about humans and no one seems to understand that. Salv would, she thought. And that brought her back to the present. Let's get over with the classes.
All the classes ended and Selene was just hanging out with 6 of her friends while waiting for Salv to come to pick her up. "So Selene, what is your scene with the guy who drops and picks you up? He seems a little bit too old for you." Rick asked moving a bit closer to Selene.
"Salv? He is family. Nothing romantic. Why do you care?" Selene was a bit irritated by his attitude. Rick just scratched his head and looked around at all his friends. Everybody knew how much he liked Selene. Though Selene was 17 yr old now her mind was far away from all this. She cared for her friends but didn't spend much time apart from school with them. The only person who was around her most of the time was Salv.
"Uhh...I just wanted to ask you if you wanted to go out for dinner sometime on a date." Rick asked shyly.
Horn!! Before Selene could answer there was a big Honk. And she knew he was here to pick her up. And to her relief, best timing. She looked at Rick, didn't know how to react. "Rick, I don't have time and I don't see you that way."
"But Selene we have been friends for" honk... "forever. Can't you just give me a shot? I really like you." Rick grabbed her hands holding her from running out.
"What is happening here?" a very deep voice cut through all the tension. Everyone was looking at Salvatore De Luca, Selene's hot and apparently funny neighbor who looked far from it.
The moment she felt Salv behind her she sighed a breathe of relief and natural stepped closer to him.
Salv suddenly laughed, looked at Selene's friend to greet everyone, and then stared at Rick, "Don't mind Selene right here. I feel she could be a lesbian or even Asexual. If you know her, you know she just doesn't think about all this. Let's just say in this case the most cliched line is true. It is her, not you."
Selene just looked at Salv with her mouth wide open. Did he just call me Asexual? I am not attracted to any gender. Seriously!! And with that, Salv took Selene's hand and dragged her towards the car waving out to her friends.
"Close your mouth, little girl. I just saved you from awkwardness and him to go on a dark spree of why he is not worthy of you. Though I believe he is not. But he doesn't need to feel that. And anyways you don't need to think of all this at this age" Salv said while pulling out the seatbelt and winking at her.
Selene still wasn't over this.
