Next time we were at school, at lunch, Isa and Alice and Trent and Jake along with me went over to Megan's table.
"We saw your video," T started.
"And we'll forgive you," J chipped in.
"If you," Alice continued.
"Go to prom," Isa went on.
I sat down and stretched my arm across the table.
"With me," I concluded.
Meg was so close to laughing, but she took my hand in her own and nodded frantically.
............
The night of the big dance, I was so excited. Isa and Alice told me just to meet them there, so I had the chance to drive down to the school by myself with my dads at last agreeing not to drop me off.
Darryl was reluctant to let me go.
"You look so beautiful. The most wonderful girl," he had commented when I first showed him and Josh what I looked like in my dress.
"But you still haven't told us who your date is," Dad Josh said.
That's right, they still didn't know on the actual night.
"A girl," I muttered, getting parts of my hair to cover my blushing face.
"Awe, well you better have a good night and hopefully get her round sometime," Darryl was saying as I was walking out the door.
Embarrassing and overprotective, but accepting too.
I drove round and parked without any trouble, it was only actually going inside the building that I was struggling with.
Because it was the night that could change everything between Megan and I, even if she still believed in the stupid rule that we cannot go out since I dated her brother.
And it honestly got me a little excited, thinking about what might happen in there.
Somehow, something inside of me pushed through my worrying thoughts and encouraged me to go in and have fun even if it has a chance of only lasting a few seconds.
Now, first impressions: Isa and Alice were hella adorable, T and J had the shortest dresses I had ever seen.
The gym looked amazing, the music was loud but catchy and the good kind with popular stuff.
And Meg? She looked drop dead gorgeous to me.
I was pulled over when Isa and Alice saw me approach, and suddenly Megan and I were among the couples waiting to dance.
Also, the holding hands part was great.
Everyone around us looked so happy and didn't even seem to care, which in turn made me feel happy too.
Then I saw Marty.
.............
I only left Meg's side to have a little 'talk' with the boy, that's the only reason I ever left her side.
"What is wrong with you?" I asked Adderall with a sigh.
"Um......."
"Martin, Megan and I aren't some play things for you to watch. Okay? I am sick of your messages and comments and no one cares if I am possibly going out with her."
Still nothing, he looked guilty and foolish. Then sighed.
"I'm sorry," he said finally.
"Thank you," I answered, then headed back to where I had left my date.
When I saw she wasn't there, I was the one who started fearing the absolute worst. Because she might not like me anymore, might have realised she deserves better, and so much more.
And all of a sudden she was back, and we were kissing.
Fireworks in my head, cheers in my ears and her lips against mine.
We slow danced, crazy danced and group danced with our friends throughout the rest of the night.
"I love you!" Megan shouted over the music.
My heart went into overdrive.
Four words, and she was mine.
"I love you too."
