The Marriage Counselor

Chapter 12

"You're a fucking counselor who can't fix us." Shaun shouted as Jennie walked out of Lisa's office, angry at him.

"Mr Lee, It wasn't my job to forcefully fix your relationship with your wife. It's your responsibility. I'm just here to guide the both of you to find each other's viewpoint." Lisa said calmly.

"She's a fucking girl who's immature and wants attention. Can't you see that? She's lucky that I am here. She just wants sex. And I don't do sex." Shaun said degrading his wife in front of their marriage counselor.

"Shallow. For the record, if you listen actively, you'll understand that it's not sex. Anyway, you may now leave. " Lisa said in authority that made Shaun leave.

Shallow man belongs in the garbage, not in her office.

"A fucking slut." Shaun hissed as she enters his car ready to drove off to his beloved job.

"That was intense." Ryu said as she enters Lisa's office.

"And why are you here? Didn't you say that you have thesis to work on during weekends?" Lisa said as she makes way to the corner of her office where a massage is located.

"We finished early. Can't I miss you? " Ryujin said with her puppy eyes.

"We live in the same house. Go on, tell me what you want to tell." Lisa said before starting the massage chair.

"Can't I be here? Without any hidden intention? But Can I cover your shift tonight? I needed extra money." Ryujin said trying her luck.

"My shift is too late. Passed your bedtime. Ask Jisoo or Seulgi if they'll agree, and you'll have no problem with me." Lisa said enjoying how the machine massages her body.

"They'll just give me that extra money. I want to work hard for it." Ryu pouted as she badly wanted to earn the money, the hard way.

"A'ight. I'll talk to them. But don't get too excited. We'll obviously have conditions." Lisa said, turning off the massage chair to get her phone.

Ryu had a favor. We'll meet after seulgi's shift.

lisa sent on their group chat. She was about to turn off her phone when a text message from Jennie notified.

From: Ms. Kim Jennie

Sorry for walking out on you. Can we just please end the session and cut of these marriage. ASAP.

To: Ms Kim Jennie

It's normal during a session. I'm used to it
About the end of session, please refer to Mr Park's team. Whatever the response from them, I'll drop the two of you, if you would like I can refer you to a lawyer specialized in divorce or annulment.

After that, Lisa turn off her phone and adjusted herself and look at Ryujin, who has an teasing pair of eyes.

"Who was it?" Ryujin mover her eyebrows in a teasing manner which made Lisa chuckle.

"It's a client, Ryu. Just fix your things and you have a kot of pleading to do with Seul and Jisoo." Lisa shrug it off and tap her friend's shoulder.

"What do you think of the couple earlier?" Ryujin said while fixing her things.

Lisa stare at Ryujin, "I can't say anything. You know that. But in general, Men are trash." Lisa said which made the younger chuckle.

"Do you think marriage always lead in annulment or divorce?" Ryujin asked again, a little more serious than her tone earlier.

Lisa sigh before answering, "You know what? It depends on the relationship, the companionship, and the intention of people who are bound in marriage. Why do you ask?" Lisa asked the younger. It was the first time, Ryujin, had taken interest in marriage talk.

"My... The girl that I like, her parents are divorcing each other. She's been gloomy, I often see marks... I am, scared. I don't know what to do. I want to lift her from the pit. But how can I? I don't even know why a once loving parents burn the home they built. How does 20 years of marriage came crushing down to ashes. " Ryujin said with bloodshot eyes, she's been in pain for her special someone's pain. Lisa came to Ryujin and side hugged her.

"Seriously, there are numerous long marriage that were crashed and burned. And their child or children always suffer. You should be there for her, talk to her as a friend. Support her. Just let you be her escape, but protect yourself too. You must be genuinely there for her as a friend, with an intention of helping a friend. And not as someone who likes her,  who's taking a chance on her." Lisa said and gently patting Ryujin's head.
