"Alright, everyone's here. Let's start with proper, shall we?" Lisa paused a bit seeking affirmation from her two clients.
"I am Lisa Manoban, I will be counseling the both of you. Our session today will be centered with the root problem of all of the arguments you both had. I believe, Mrs Jennie, and you, Mr Lee already said your both side of the story to me. But before delving into our subject matter, please do take time to read our consent form, our consent form includes your rights and me taking notes or recording the information we would gather." Lisa paused and handed the consent form.
"What if I don't want to approve of this record thingy." Shaun said that stops Lisa from arranging recording materials.
"Then, Give me refusal letter right now. Leave and Let's meet in court, for immediate annulment." Lisa said keeping a stoic face, Jennie wants to laugh badly but she kept it to herself and hid a smile.
Shaun clearly doesn't like what he heard, "May I inform you that I pay you. I'm your client." He said with a grin.
"Look at me." Lisa said with authority, Shaun and Jennie look at her while Lisa kept her stare at Shaun. "Do I look like I care?"
Jennie almost laugh, but good thing she didn't at least.
"Alright, here's mine. It's already signed. " Jennie said trying to break the tension inside the room.
"Here." Shaun said after she signed the papers quickly.
"Alright. We will now begin. I will ask bot of you questions regarding your marriage and how you view your marriage. In this session, I want your complete cooperation and thoughts. Bot of you will be given time to answer, please do not interupt each other when speaking or saying their narratives. " Lisa paused to look at her two clients.
"After this session, it is up to the agreement of both parties, if we will continue or come to the conclusion of your marriage." Lisa continued. She then took a deep breath and took her pen and paper.
"Alright, Mr Lee, why do you marry Mrs Lee?" Lisa asked, Jennie rolled her eyes at what Lisa addressed her. Although, she knew Lisa was just being professional, she couldn't help but to make a sour face at the thought that she is still a Lee.
"Simple, because she's a rare find. She's beautiful, kind, and lovely." Shaun said with a straight face.
"Hmm okay. How about you Mrs Lee. Why did you said I do?" Lisa asked gazing at Jennie.
Jennie took her time answering that question in the entire course of their marriage and it was simple. "I loved him, I thought he's the one for me." she said without emotion and with finality that she only loved him before.
Lisa heave a sigh at Jennie's short response, "Alright, when do you both think it went downhill?" she asked trying to extract words from both of her clients, that will help their decision... or not.
"When she can't understand me. When she's so focused on herself and fails to be a wife to me. When she's so narcissistic she that she forget to reciprocate all my love." Shaun said with despise and pity on his face.
Both Lisa and Jennie's eyebrow raised. Lisa heard both of their sides with the first solo session of both parties, yet she well damn know that what shaun said isn't true.
She made a look on Jennie that says 'calm down' which Jennie obeyed.
"Hm. How about you, Ms. Kim?" Lisa asked, dropping the mrs lee, she knew damn well this is a lost case.
"When he's pathologically, pathetically pleasing my family. His egocentricness, that even though my family accepted him as my husband, his ego couldn't afford to accept that my family is rich. His ego-feeding self gets him, that his greed for money and validation that he forgets he got a wife in need of his love and not money in the bank that will absolutely go nowhere when we die. He loves money so much that de dropped everything for it. Free time, dates, important family events, dignity, self respect, everything, he dropped it for sum of money." Jennie said piercing every word on Shaun, she could add more if she wants the list to go on and on.
"You dumb bitch, I wouldn't have even marry you if your family is not powerful and has a lot of connection." Shaun whispered underneath his breath. It didn't fail to be heard by Lisa though.
