Yeremy

Lana was testing me.

I knew she was immature, trust me I knew.

But the last thing I expected her to do was play with me as soon as we sat down.

She looked beautiful, as always, but it had been so long that I found myself timing whenever I could steal a glance at her. It was better when she was talking, that way I didn't have to hide the fact that I was staring at her.

She was wearing a red dress and gold high heels. Her hair was pinned up and she was wearing dangling little earrings that were distracting all on their own.

Her perfume smelled sweet and tempting and it was all I could do but smell it. It was strong and fragrant filling my nose with its delicate smell even a seat away from her.

I wanted to take a picture of her, save it forever, but there wasn't a camera around that could capture the hold she had on me and if Dmitri hadn't been distracting Mikhail they would have noticed and killed me by now.

I wasn't expecting to see her at all on this trip but that was foolish of me. I was in her house, how could I not run into her in her own house?

"I can't believe you got that kid expelled," Dmitri laughed, setting down his glass of water, "You ruined his future Lana."

"No I did not," Lana laughed too, "He's still rich."

God she looked beautiful when she laughed. I wanted to kiss her.

"Besides he had it coming," she shrugged, "He was a pig."

Both Mikhail and Dmitri tensed up, their ears perking up like they were dogs.

I sighed, was she trying to get Roman killed?

She immediately realized her mistake and smiled, "Calm down, please. Nothing happened."

They turned to me for confirmation but I was too busy drinking the last of my water. I caught a glimpse of Lana out the corner of my eye. She wanted me to lie, I know she wanted me to lie.

I took a deep breath, "Roman wasn't as big of a problem as Kai," I assured them, "I handled it."

"Kai?" Mikhail turned to Lana, "Who is that?"

Lana shot me a look signifying that I had just made the situation worse but I couldn't help but laugh a bit.

"He's Roman's friend," Lana explained, "I found out he was on steroids and I let him know that I knew. He got upset but he walked away."

Dmtiri turned to me and I shrugged, "I broke his nose, waved my gun around. He's a gentleman now."

They both laughed but Lana looked like she wanted to tackle me to the ground and choke me.

I'd let her.

"So," she smiled, folding her hands, "There was an actual point to this dinner."

"Was there?" Mikhail raised an eyebrow.

"Yes," she nodded, flipping some hair over her shoulder as she sat up straight, "Sage Greene called me a week ago and I think it's time I go back to work—"

"Absolutely not," Dmitri cut her off, "Are you out of your mind?"

"No," Lana said, clearly expecting the reaction, "I just worked really hard for this and I don't want to lose it."

"I can't believe you're at this again," Dmitri ran a hand through his hair, his shoulders full of frustration, "Just when I think you understand, you turn around and you prove me wrong. Is that some kind of hidden talent?"
