"Would this companion happen to have four legs and only know how to bark?" She asked.
She could hear Duck whining and barking right before I even had a chance to open the door.
As soon as I opened the door I let out a soft whistle and like the chick magnet that I know him to be, Duck immediately walked right up to Leah and just sat at her feet and looked straight up.
"He's quite the charmer, what's his name?" She asked.
"His name is Duck, don't question the name, I just felt like it was fitting."
It was like straight out of a movie, I had Leah Williamson in my hotel room cuddling up with my number one fan. I would consider this a "pinch me" moment.
"I rescued him when he was a puppy, he's probably the best thing that's ever happened to me. We've been through a lot together." I said without even thinking.
"That's really cool that you have someone in your corner no matter what, even if he can't speak". She said with a slight giggle.
Leah and I sat on the couch just chatting away about everything and anything. Conversation just flowed like we knew each other for years. We talked about family, friends, relationship, and even our favorite take-out orders. I kept reminding myself to keep it professional, don't do anything to jeopardize the integrity of your job and what I got hired to do. But what am I supposed to do when the most beautiful girl in the world is in your hotel room and chatting with you about absolutely everything?
As we talked for what seemed hours, I could tell Leah was getting tired so I unfortunately decided to wrap up the conversation.
"I think it's time to call it a night, it was really nice hanging out with you but I think I would get into a lot of trouble if people find out I kept the skipper out all night." I exclaimed.
"I agree, I just had the absolute worst time being here with you, don't know if I ever want to come back." She joked and it of course made me give her a big side-eye.
"Very funny Leah, so I guess I'll see you around then huh?" I asked.
"Surprisingly, I'm not going anywhere so you don't really have a choice."
"Lucky me then." I said.
With that, I opened up the door and watched her walking down the hall towards the elevator. As I closed the door and just leaned against it, I played the evening back in my head. Tomorrow was a new day and I needed to pull myself together and act like nothing just happened. Or can I?
Let me know what you think so far. Like I said I've never written anything like this so tell me if there's something that needs to be changed, added, or taken away.
