I woke up the next morning after my strange but wonderful night with Leah and looked over the schedule for the upcoming week. For the next couple days I was tasked with simply taking pictures of training along with the camera work for some interviews prier to the the departure to the Euros. I walked out of the hotel and onto the training pitch where I began to take pictures of the girls during practice. You could sense the tension in the air. Everyone was ready for the first match against Austria. This wasn't considered a particularly difficult match but by listening to everyone around camp, this was a match that everyone needed to take seriously.
My contract with the Lionesses social media team was only until the end up the training sessions, I constantly had it in the back of my head that I was to return home at the conclusion of the training sessions at St. Georges Park. When I returned back to my hotel room I immediately received an email from the head of the social media department stating that I was needed for the rest of the tournament. Also stating in the email was that all accommodations were met and I was to travel with the team throughout the remainder of the Euros. I was elated. This was my dream.
For the next few days I carried on with business as usual, a couple chats with the players, some footage of the girls with fans, and a lot of cheeky one-liners, and some walks with Duck,
I woke up and it was July 5th, today we were leaving for Old Trafford, the home stadium for Manchester United. Tomorrow we were to play Austria. A tough game was ahead but we were confident. It's a home tournament and all eyes were on us, we were ready.
I packed up my things and we were off to Manchester. On the bus there was a mix of nerves. In the back you had Millie and Rach jamming out to Abba and you had the quiet group up front with their headphones in probably just tuning out the world. I had the fortune at being at the front. I turned my camera around and just captured this experience, trying to record everyone's journey to this one in a lifetime tournament. That's when I felt a light tap on my shoulder.
