Kaning and Gorya went to the amusement park.

Kavin and Thyme went to work.

THYME POV

While Kavin and I were working, I noticed a girl and a guy standing nearby.

(K) Who’s that?
(T) I don’t know, Kavin.

The guy suddenly walked toward us.

(L) Hey.
(K) What do you want?
(L) My father sent me to collect something.
(K) Name?
(L) Channarong.
(K) Okay. I’ll be right back.

Kavin walked away to get the documents.

That’s when I heard two voices behind me.

(M) That guy over there is Kaning’s brother.
(L) Who?
(M) The one working on the computer.

I froze.

Unfortunately for him, Luke didn’t realize I heard everything.

I slowly turned toward him.

(T) So… you’re my sister’s ex-boyfriend, huh? —smirks—
(L) Huh?
(T) So you are?

My eyes burned with anger as I stared at him.

(L) Yeah. And? —smirks—
(T) You hurt my sister, you fucker.

I stood up, my fists clenched.

Before I could do anything, Kavin came back with the documents and immediately pushed me back down into my chair.

(K) Here are the documents.
(L) Thanks.

Luke walked away like nothing happened.

(K) What the hell was that?
(T) That bastard was Kaning’s ex-boyfriend.
(K) What?
(T) He’s the one who hurt her.
(K) How do you know?
(T) He admitted it himself. I need to know everything he did to her.
(K) Calm down. Let’s talk to Gorya later, okay?
(T) Fine.

TIME SKIP

Kaning came home and immediately went to sleep.

Later, Thyme and Kavin went to Gorya’s place.

THYME POV

(T) Tell me everything Kaning told you.
(G) I promised her I wouldn’t say anything.
(T) Please, babe. I need to know.
(G) Fine — but you have to promise you won’t tell Kaning and you won’t beat him.
(T) I can promise the first one… but not the second.
(G) Then I won’t say anything.
(K) What if I make sure he doesn’t get beaten up too badly?
(G) …Fine. Deal.

Gorya told us everything.

Every word felt like a knife.
Anger, guilt, and heartbreak crushed my chest.

(T) I’m going to kill him.
(G) Thyme, stop! Don’t do anything stupid!
(K) Yeah, Thyme. It’s better if you stay here today.
(G) What about Kaning?
(K) I’ll take care of her. Don’t worry.
(G) Alright. Go.

Kavin left first.

I stayed behind, pacing.

(T) If I knew how badly he hurt her, I would’ve beaten him today.
(G) You met him today?
(T) Yeah. He came to my workplace. I swear, I want to beat the shit out of him.
(G) Please calm down. Remember what Kaning asked you.
(T) I know… but I can’t stand seeing my sister hurt.
(G) I know. Just not now, okay?

I nodded.

Gorya hugged me and gently patted my head, trying to calm me down.

KAVIN POV

I’ve never seen Thyme this angry.
If he meets Luke again, that guy will end up in the hospital — or worse.

I was sitting on the couch when Kaning walked out of her room.

(KK) Kavin… where’s Thyme?
(K) He’s at Gorya’s place.
(KK) Why?
(K) He wanted to stay with her today.
(KK) Oh… okay.
(K) Kaning.
(KK) Yes?
(K) Come here.

She walked closer.

(K) Is your ex-boyfriend’s name Luke?
(KK) How do you know?
(K) We met him at work today.
(KK) Does Thyme know now?
(K) Yes.
(KK) Kavin… please make sure Thyme doesn’t do anything stupid.
(K) Why are you still protecting him?
(KK) Because Thyme could get into serious trouble if he hurts him. Please, Kavin.
(K) …Okay. I’ll try my best.
(KK) Thank you.

I watched her walk back to her room.

She was still protecting the guy who broke her.
And I knew this situation was only getting more dangerous.
