-Paleum Fassalus POV-

We decided to go to the nearest Gym Leader for help with our badges problem. Since we were in Viridian Forest, the nearest would be Pewter City or Viridian City. Since Viridian was closer to the Indigo Plateau we decided that it would be a better option. We knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer. Soon a kindly looking gentleman opened.

"Ah welcome! Are you challengers for the gym?" Even his voice sounded kindly. Melody took charge and walked up to him.

"No, we're not. We need to see the Gym Leader. He's my cousin and it's important family business." Cousin? Since when? I turned to Crimson but he didn't seem to be focusing. His eyes were darting around wildly but no-one other than me seemed to notice.

"Ah you're Little Mellie! Blue's talked about you." Wait... Little Mellie? Oh, we were so gonna tease her about this later. Her face lit up red.

"Yes, that's me. I need to see Blue. We all do."

"Well come on in! He needs a bit of cheering up now. Ever since your Grandpa got... well"

"That's part of why we're here." He welcomed us in and we gazed in wonder at the Gym. It had large shiny red and blue walls. The battlefield in the centre seemed to be a rocky terrain with mini arches, caves and even a small river running through the middle. On one side was the challenger's box where the gym challenger stood during the battle. On the other side was a slightly raised platform for the Gym Leader.

Suddenly the platform began to lower into the ground. After around a minute, it began to raise again, this time with a person on top. He wore a light blue and white shirt and a pair of jeans. On his neck rested a small necklace with the Cerulean city gym badge on it. His first badge maybe? He has brown spiky hair, swept to one side and piercing blue eyes. I could tell where he got his name.

"Right what are you guys doing he- Mellie?" he looked in confusion as I tried to not laugh at the nickname. "What are doing here?"

"It's about Gramps. We know where he is."

"What?!"

"Can we talk in private please?" Blue looked at her, his knees were shaking but he had a hopeful look in his eyes. His cousin had just given him hope again. He nodded and led her down the elevator platform he used to get up here. I turned to Crimson.

"Her cousin is a gym leader?"

"Yup."

"It's kinda cool actually! Did you know I'm distantly related to a gym leader in Kalos? His name's Grant! He's basically my uncle." I expected him to be a little excited at that, but instead he just looked down, a bitter expression on his face.

"Is there something wrong" I asked him. He just looked up at me. He paused for a moment, as if deciding whether to say something or not.

"Everyone got these nice families and everything and what do I get?" he continued with a slightly angry expression. "A dead mom, an evil creep and some corporate grandpa."

"Wait, what?" He flinched again but it didn't seem to be from something I said. Instead he started muttering quietly. I could only make out a few words.

"Who's One and Two?" His eyes widened. I guess he didn't realize he'd said some of those things out loud. I hadn't heard much anyway. Just some people named One and Two and some guy named John.

"They're no-one." As soon as he said the words, he flinched. "Shut up.", he muttered. Was he talking to the air?

"Just stop prying please. I meant what I said when I said earlier that you two don't know me." I'd only met the guy a few days ago but he was already one of my closest friends. I hadn't had many in Kalos so these words hurt but I understood. He was a private guy.
