Alpha Squad: Evolution

Chapter 12

-Crimson Aquilon POV-

As soon as we were far enough away, we sat down to rest. Rotom quickly flew out of the container once Paleum had managed to open it (read: had Rampardos use Iron Head on it).

"Thank Arceus we got out of there!" I said. Melody whipped her head around and glared at me.

"Really?! What were you thinking just jumping at that guy! We were perfectly well hidden!"

"If you didn't notice, he would most likely have found us within half a minute Melody!"

"So, your solution was to jump him?!" she fired back. I frowned. I knew she wouldn't understand. She didn't know what I did.

"Look I don't expect you to understand because no matter how long you've known me, you don't know the real me! You think I just did that without a reason?! I didn't. So, leave me alone!" I turned my back and left. As I was leaving I heard their voices:

"Melody, maybe just let this go?"

"No! He had no reason to do what he did!"

"Look I don't know the guy but it was pretty obvious he knew the scientist somehow. Maybe they had a history?"

"The scientist didn't recognize him!" I didn't hear any more. I was already too far away.

Around an hour later, I felt a tugging at my leg. I was still wearing the UPIA uniforms given to us. I looked down. It was a Rockruff? Wait a minute! I recognized this Rockruff! This was the same one the poachers tried to take earlier in the week.

"Hey buddy!" I scratched under his chin "What're you doing out here? How did you get to Kanto anyway?". The Rockruff looked down, sadness evident in its eyes.

"Oh man... the poachers." I realized "Oh I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to remind you of that.". The Rockruff didn't seem to mind and jumped up into my lap, all curled up. Anubis' poke ball opened up as he sensed the familiar Pokémon.

Hello little one. I heard the voice through my mind and I could feel Rockruff sensing it as well. Its head perked up and it yapped excitedly at Anubis, obviously remembering it. I unclipped the two other poke balls from my belt and released Inferno and Terranova.

"Char!"

"Gabite!"

Inferno, curious, nudged closer to the Rockruff in my lap. I quickly realized something I should probably ask.

Hey Anubis? What's Rockruff's name? I asked through our mental link. I got the reply almost instantly.

His name is Canistone. I thanked Lucario and turned my head back to the Rockruff.

"Hey Canistone! It was really nice meeting you! You really cheered me up.". Canistone leapt of my lap and barked happily at me. It ran a few circles around and then jogged back into the forest. We all waved goodbye except Terranova, who just shot a Dragon Breath into the air.

"We should go back, shouldn't we?" I asked around. Inferno and Terranova instantly agreed but Anubis... I turned around to him and saw him growling, sniffing the air. He closed his eyes and I saw a blue wave pulse from his chest spike. It travelled across the ground and bounced back. He opened his eyes and turned to me.

We should go back. The others are in trouble. His ideas were confirmed when I heard a large roar cut through the forest:

"KYAAAAR!!!!"

"Brionne! Use Aqua Jet!"

"Quick Turtonator! Shell Trap!"
