"Arista?" Margot asks with some uncertainty.
"Okay, that's a... that's a big swing there. Whoo. But we are here for it. Step one, you're going to need a prom-posal. Blue-sky with me, people. Any ideas?" Margot says as they walk towards the school.
"Maybe I can ask her with something like an advanced quadratic equation. And when I solve it, the answer is prom," Reuben suggests as he stands in front of the group, with his hands in his pocket.
The three look at him with wide eyes as Margot falls backwards and Trevin and Bliss catch her.
"Reuben, my sweet, wide-eyed, dumbest smart person ever, you cannot ask Arista to prom with homework," Margot say.
"It was just a suggestion, plus, it's kinda cool," he says shrugging a bit with a small smile.
"It is not cool. A good prom-posal is art. Showmanship is the name of the game in this hormone-fuelled benchmark of adolescence. A ritual that embodies the ultimate in high risk, high reward. Now, you get one shot at prom and one shot at persuading your Juliet that you are her Romeo. With stakes this high, the only option is to go big," Margot explains as Reuben watches other people do they're prom-posal's.
"Everyone, don't forget to RSVP for prom, the most important day of your lives," the principle announces over the PA system.
"I almost asked Arista to prom with homework," Reuben says as he bangs his head on his locker.
"We got you, Reuben. There are so many other options," Margot says as Reuben closes his locker.
"Here," Margot says as she moves back and forth on her unicycle and shoves a clip board into Reuben's hands and throws him her unicycle, "This is the first draft, but with this script and my favourite prop from clown school."
"I don't know. Do you have something a little, I don't know, smaller?" he asks.
"Tone down the drama, you say?" Margot says as she appears with a clown nose on her face, "I know just the thing."
Margot reaches into her locker and pulls out a pink and purple cannon.
"What's that?" Reuben asks.
"A commercial-grade DJ confetti cannon. You just ask Arista to prom, push this button, and the confetti will rain down like closing night on Broadway," Margot says.
"Uh, yeah, you know what? Maybe I just abandon this whole "ask your dream girl to prom" thing," Reuben doubts as he puts down the unicycle and clip board and leans on his locker.
Suddenly, we see a girl with long and wavy ginger hair and green eyes walk into the school. Reuben gasps a bit as he straightens up and watches the girl walk through the school. The said girl was wearing long blue jeans, a black t-shirt with a band on it, a big black zip-up hoodie jumper and a pair of black converse.
"Arista," Reuben sighs dreamily, still watching her.
As she walks through the hall, she starts to run towards Reuben as people form hearts with they're body and move away from Arista runs through. The ground them disappeared and Arista started to swim towards Reuben. When she was close enough, Reuben picked her up and held her above him.
"Arista, would you do me the honour of going to human prom with me?" Reuben asks as he dips Arista.
"Oh, Reuben, yes. Oh, you've made me the happiest girl on dry land, Reuben," Arista says smiling a lot and holding Reuben close to her.
"Arista," Reuben sighs contently as she hugs her.
"Reuben. Reuben?" Arista says as Reuben gets out of his fantasy and sees her standing in front of him with a shy smile on her face.
"Hi," she waves as she giggles a bit at the fact he was hugging a strangers backpack.
"Arista's here," Reuben says, still hugging the backpack.
"Uh, yeah. Arista's here," she says giving a bit of jazz hands.
"Oh!" Reuben says as he finally realises what he was doing.
He lets go of the kids backpack, pushes him away and stands up straight as he gives his attention to Arista.
"Oh. Hi. Hi, hi, hi," he says as he rubs his neck in nervousness.
"Uh... we're still on for our tutoring sesh later, right?" Arista asks, sticking her hands inside her hoodie.
"Oh. Oh, yeah, Arista. We are on like polygons," he says laughing nervously a bit.
"All right. Team math. I'll, um, see you later," Arista says as she moves back a bit.
"You know it. Anything for my alge-bae," Reuben says cooly, not realising what he said.
"I'm sorry. Your what now?" Arista asks smiling a bit at Reuben as he realises his mistake.
"I mean bro. A-Alge-bro. Like you're my brother. Not my brother. Cause you're a girl and that would be weird. You're my math sister," Reuben corrects as he twists his legs twice around his other leg.
"You know, I think I liked the first one better," Arista said smiling.
"See you around, alge-bae," she teases as she walks away from him.
"Give me that confetti cannon," Reuben said confidently looking in the direction that Arista went in.
"Yes!" Margot cheers.
