The crowd kept cheering for him.
"He's going to say something. Shh," A girl with a sign that said 'Applause' said as she flipped it to say silence.
"Picture this, me, stunning but approachable, on my first day of school," he says climbing down by standing on some of the students like stairs.
"I'm lost and confused, struggling to find my first class. When suddenly--," he says gasping a bit as he slides to sit next to Arista, "I spot little miss hot stuff here just barely above water."
As he says this, he boops her nose lightly as Reuben's eye twitches in annoyance that this random guy was trying to flirt with her.
"I'm just lucky that...," she tries to say until the new guy grabs her, twirls her around and dips her as he places a finger on her mouth to silence her.
"Oh. Shush, shush. My story.," he says a bit flirtatiously as he then sets her back down where she was sitting.
"Now, I'm not much of a swimmer," he says as he gives a small glance to Reuben and jumps up on the statue, "But in that moment, I remembered what my father always told me: "You are handsome." Also, "Big risk, big reward. Always go big." And what is bigger than saving a life?"
He poses at the top of the statue as people cheer and throw roses at him, as for Reuben he was giving him a glare from where he was standing.
"I love you so much," someone randomly shouts.
"Love you, too, rando," the new guy shouts and points as he grabs a roses thrown at him.
"He pointed at me. I'm Rando," A random girl says as she fan girls for him.
As everyone kept cheering for him, Reuben looks down at his hand to see that it was still glowing.
"Oh, no. What's happening?" he says worriedly as he accidentally backs into to someone.
"Watch it," they say.
"Sorry. Excuse me," he says quickly looking at the person.
"Wait," the new guy says as two girl catch him before he falls.
Reuben looks back at him and covers him hand as he looks at the new guy with a bit of a suspicious look.
"We haven't met. I'm Caspian, Caspian Van Der Zee. It's Dutch. Kusjes!" he says giving a few air kisses to the crowd.
"And you are?" he asks.
"Reuben Gillman," he says reluctantly.
"Okay, maybe it's the whole "don't look at me" vibe, but there's something different about you," Caspian points out.
"Sorry, I really gotta go now," he says raising his hands, only for the glowing one to grow a bit bigger.
Reuben covers his hand as he starts to hyperventilate a bit as everyone gave him weird looks and his vision became blurry.
"Uh, are you good?"
"What's wrong with him?"
"Yeah, you might need to lie down for a little bit."
"Yeah, that's awkward."
"What's his deal?"
"Is he gonna barf?"
"Freaking out."
"Reuben?" Arista asks as she moves a bit closer Reuben, but he moves away from her.
"Are you okay? You really look like you've been through something," Caspian asks sincerely.
"Yeah. I really got to go. Now," Reuben says as he runs through the crowd and towards the library.
"All right, everyone. Show's over. Let's get back to class," a man announces over the PA system.
"Welcome to your new home, if I may be so bold," Agatha says enthusiastically as the couple enters the house.
"Ooh," Janice says.
"This is incredible," Doug agrees.
"Oh, you've picked a great place to raise a kid. It's so safe here in Oceanside. Moving my family here was the best decision I ever made," Agatha says as she shows the couple the kitchen.
"Doug actually grew up here. We're moving back so that we can be closer to his folks when the little one comes," Janice explains.
"Hello, free babysitting," Doug says happily.
"How nice. Just be careful they don't tell you how you should live your life and raise your children. I mean, it'll be so nice to have family nearby. You're very lucky," Agatha says a bit sourly but covers it up.
Reuben runs up to the library doors and desperately pulls on then until one of the doors open. He runs inside and trips over a few things and runs into a few balloons. His hand continues to glow and he eventually runs into a small corner in the library and hides behind a book cart.
"Oh, why am I glowing?" he panics as he tries to cover his hand with some books from the shelf, "Glowing is not good. Yup, it's official, I will never go into the ocean again. Lesson learned."
He pulls out his phone, "Call Mom."
"Video call Arista," his phone said
"What? I did not say that. Stupid phone. Call Mom," he says agitated while Arista answers the phone.
"Reuben, where'd you go?" Arista asks.
"Whoa. Hey," he says as he then silently whispers to his phone, "End call, end call, end call."
"Wait, I wanted to ask you some...," Arista tries to say, but the call ends.
"I'm going through a tunnel," he says turning the phone away from him, "Call Mom. No, wait, I can't call Mom. She's gonna kill me."
Suddenly, his legs started to grow bigger as three tentacles sprouted out.
"There's three of them?" Reuben asks in shock and panic as his legs continue to grow and himself as well.
"Oh, this is a nightmare," he screams as he keeps growing.
"Hello?" the librarian says as she walks out of her office.
"Pride and Prejudice," she exclaims as she picks up the book, "You're a long way from home. What are you doing in True Crime?"
She puts the book back, but a few other books fall out of the shelf. She picks up the books and looks back at the shelf to see a large tentacle on the other side. She slowly looks up to see Reuben, huddle in the corner, glowing a light blue as he smiles nervously.
"Hi?" he says awkwardly as the librarian screams.
Reuben screams after her and then starts to grow bigger until the whole library is destroyed and Reuben bursts out.
