Stuck in the Middle

Chapter 17

It's been two months since opening day. The business has been going steady since students haven't come as much since school started. I had the day off so I went to the grocery store to get a few things. This week was Thanksgiving and we were going to the Burrow for dinner. I wanted to make a plate or two. I baked for a whole day, I made three Apple pies and a batch of biscuits. I brought them over to Molly as soon as I had them finished the day before. That way it would be easier to help set everything up.

After Thanksgiving dinner, Molly and Arthur want to sit down with us to discuss the wedding arrangements for next month. We planned to have it on a Sunday, December 22nd, a few days before Christmas, that way everyone could be home for Christmas break. Ginny had already agreed to be my Maid of Honor before she left for school. Invitations were sent out not soon after that. The few people I had listed to have invites sent to already agreed that they would be there.

I had the gown stay with Molly until the day of the wedding. Fred and I couldn't see each other the night before. We planned that I would stay at the Burrow, while Fred and the boys stayed at the house. We would have everything set up the day before so we had less to do the next day.

I slept in my old room but I wasn't alone. Ginny, Hermione, and Luna all slept over. They had their dresses ready for tomorrow. Harry and Ron went to stay with the Twins back at the house.

"So what does it feel like?" Hermione asked me.

"Does what feel like?" I eyed her cautiously.

"Getting married tomorrow!" she squealed.

"I can't wait," I sighed happily. "I used to imagine what it would have been like when I was younger."

"What did you want?" Luna asked me next.

"The traditional Muggle wedding stuff. I have never been to a wizard wedding so I wasn't sure how it would have gone. I'm still not entirely sure. I had only seen pictures of my father's wedding with Patricia. When I found some of my mother's things, pictures included, it gave me an idea of what the differences are. I even have my mother's wedding dress too."

We had normal girly conversations all night before we went to bed.

It took hours to get ready. Molly was taking pictures of everyone while we were getting ready. I made sure Molly was in a few pictures as well. Ginny wore a lovely orange dress, Hermione's dress was purple, and Luna wore blue. They looked amazing. Molly wore a red dress. I was waiting in the kitchen until it was time for me to start walking.

'You've got this. Your father and I will always be with you.' I heard my mother tell me. I almost started to cry but held back the tears.

When I heard the music start to play, I took a deep breath before I started walking. When I got to the start of the aisle and looked up where Fred was, it was what Ive been dreaming about. My smile grew even bigger. I kept my steady pace as I made my way up the aisle. I didn't even see how many people were even here because all I could see was Fred.

We held hands while the minister spoke. When it came to the vows Fred spoke first.

"It took me a long time before I realized how much I love you. I think my family knew it before I did," he started. There were a few quiet laughs in the crowd. "I never would have thought that I could share my life with someone that wasn't George." That made me giggle a little. "After everything you've been threw I almost thought we wouldn't get this moment, but here we are," he said smiling at me and I smiled back. I gave his hands a small squeeze for reassurance. "I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."

It was my turn.

"I never thought this day would happen either but I am so lucky that I am able to today. You've dealt with so much since I came around. You and with the help of George," I said peeking around Fred for a moment. "have saved me more times than either of you would know. You were there at my darkest times to pull me out. I have loved you for so long. Amor verus numquam moritur (True love never dies)."
