Chapter 123 – Descendant (7)

"He's in your network, how am I supposed to find him?" Zhang Xun's tone remained calm, but his palms were already soaked with cold sweat.

Eden might have already infiltrated the people around them. Many of Natalie's men were Eden followers and although they believed unconditionally that Natalie was Eden's spokesperson, if Eden spoke to them personally, these people would turn against them immediately.

They had stayed here too long......

Eden's image 'walked' past the three restrained hostages with a look of helplessness in his eyes. Only that helplessness was merely a disguise.

"He will definitely try to contact you, all you have to do is to prolong his contact with you, I only need one minute."

Zhang Xun's eyes darted between Eden and Zhang Shuo, Diego and Natalie, and he spoke with uncertainty, "If I refuse, you're going to kill them?"

"Extreme measures will be a last resort, but yes, the chances of their deaths will increase."

"Don't listen to his bullshit!" Diego raged, "Even if it doesn't kill us, it will infect us with those damn robots!"

Zhang Shuo didn't say anything, but also glared and shook his head gently at Zhang Xun.

Anger flashed in Zhang Xun's eyes, his mind quickly weighing the options available to him.

Stalling seemed to be the only thing that could be done at the moment.

"I need time to think."

Eden sighed, "Sorry, we don't have time for that, Adam could try to contact you at any moment."

"Then you can kill us all. " Zhang Xun lifted his jaw slightly with subtle provocation.

Eden paused for a few seconds, probably calculating all the pros and cons and possible outcomes of giving Zhang Xun time or not giving him time and killing everyone, then finally it said, "Okay, I'll give you two hours."

"Three."

"Don't test my limits, Zhang Xun."

"Three, this isn't an easy decision to make. You can monitor me the whole time."

Eden said, "Very well, three hours. You must stay in this room during that time and if Adam tries to contact you, you must not respond."

The three hostages were escorted out, Zhang Shuo being the last to go and he turned his head to his son, his eyes firm as he said to him, "Do what you think is best."

Zhang Xun pursed his lips tightly as he watched his figure disappear.

Yet Eden did not disappear. He remained in the small room in the image of Adam and even "sat" on a chair. Zhang Xun frowned slightly and stared at the projection, "Is this necessary?"

"You are human, you are influenced by false appearances, of course I have to take advantage of your weakness." The image of Eden leaned back easily in the chair, his smile bright and wide.

And Adam's body was lying on the ground next to it.

Zhang Xun walked over to Adam's body and sat down on his knees, carefully unplugging the wiring and covering the interface with the protective cover. Eden watched his movements and suddenly asked curiously, "Do you hate me, Zhang Xun?"

Zhang Xun said, "I've been injected with nanobots, my emotional responses have minimised."

"Before the injection, did you hate me?"
