Rey and Athena steered the junky speeder into a bustling trading outpost, the familiar sounds of commerce filling the air. They carefully parked the dilapidated vehicle to the side and climbed out, their salvaged belongings in hand. Determined to make the most of their meager resources, they set about cleaning and arranging their items for display.
Athena placed the collection of pipes on the service window of a blob fish creature, the being known for its shrewd and often unscrupulous nature. The creature eyed the pipes with a detached expression before uttering a gruff response.
"One quarter portion. That's all it's worth."
Athena's eyes blazed with indignation, her voice rising in frustration. "That's bullshit, and you know it! These pipes are worth way more than that!"
The blobfish shrugged, an air of indifference permeating its demeanor. "Well, if you don't like it, maybe you can get more money by selling your body instead. No one wants your crappy pipes."
Rey's eyes flashed with anger as she stepped forward, her voice laced with defiance. "Hey, you shut your mouth and show some respect! Don't you dare speak to my sister like that!"
The blobfish sighed, its exaggerated features drooping. It reached under the counter and begrudgingly handed them a dried green meat package and a small bag of beige powder. "Here, take it. That's all you're getting."
Rey and Athena accepted the meager offerings without a word, their disappointment etched on their faces. They turned away from the creature, walking side by side, the weight of their circumstances heavy on their shoulders.
Athena's voice was filled with frustration as she spoke, her words tinged with bitterness. "This is bullshit, Rey. We can't survive on these stupid food portions forever. We deserve better than this."
Rey's gaze met her sister's, her voice unwavering with determination. "I know, Athena. It's not fair. But we've been strong enough to last this long. We'll find a way to make it through this, too."
As they continued through the trading outpost, the noise and commotion surrounding them, Rey and Athena clung to the belief that their resilience would prevail. They had faced countless hardships together, and they wouldn't allow the bleakness of their current situation to shatter their spirit.
"We've come so far, Athena," Rey whispered, her voice filled with a mixture of weariness and hope. "We won't give up now. We'll keep fighting until we find a better life, a life where we're not constantly scraping by."
Athena nodded, her hazel eyes narrowed. "We should probably eat first."
Under the scorching sun, Athena and Rey, two young scavengers with dirt-streaked faces, sat cross-legged on the dusty ground, their prize for the day's scavenging laid out before them. Athena's hazel eyes sparkled with excitement as she held up a small sack filled with dried green meat, a necessary source in the barren wasteland they called home.
