Chibs Telford stepped through the doors of the old school bus parked on the side of the road. The sky was clear blue and the hot Californian sun shone through the windows, making the bus feel like a hot box. A little bead of sweat dripped down his scared cheeks and dropped onto the bulletproof vest he was wearing.  Chibs didn't know how long he would have to sit baking on the side of the road until he could execute his part in Jax's plan.

He used his thumb and his finger to snap his lighter and lit a cigarette hanging from his lips. He sucked a big lungful of smoke before passing the carton of cancer sticks to Opie, sitting in the driver's seat of the bus. Opie took the packet and lit his own smoke.

"Not long brother and we put this shit to bed," Opie grunted as he blew a trail of smoke in the air. Both men were miserable with grief for loved ones they had lost way before they had died.

Opie would never forgive himself for his wife Donna's death but hoped facing Stahl would bring him some peace.

Chibs understood that confronting Jimmy would not bring him the solace he sought. It pained him deeply to acknowledge that Jimmy had stripped away everything he held dear out of sheer envy. Chibs' only transgression was falling deeply in love and marrying the woman whom Jimmy had already set his sights on. In his youthful naivety, he failed to comprehend the extent of the harm Jimmy could inflict upon him. Perhaps, if he possessed the wisdom he now possessed back then, he would have made a different choice. However, he would have never experienced the joy of knowing he had a precious daughter. For Chibs, even a single day of knowing his daughter was far superior to a lifetime of never knowing her at all.

Chibs had always been aware of Jimmy's deep affection for his wife, Fiona. It had been evident for years, ever since Fiona had briefly dated Jimmy before falling head over heels for Chibs. Their love story seemed perfect, and after just a year of dating, Chibs proposed, thinking his life couldn't get any better.
