"What are you doing with you life, Stella?" I mumbled to myself as I packed my things into the overstuffed green storage box.
It was 2 am and leave it to me to pack some last minute items. I'm exhausted.
"Ha, need help there? You look like you're struggling." Michael smirked leaning against the doorway. How the hell does he have so much energy this early?
"Nah, I got it," I grunted as I got the top on the storage box on, "Thank you though!" I smiled at him.
Michael was my best friend. We met during high school and dated for a while, we realized we made better friends than lovers.
"Gosh, you really need to relax," he said leaning off the doorway straighten himself out, "Seriously you've been thinking about this your whole life! Get excited! Whooo!"
He was right. I've been thinking about this since I can remember. I finally quit my dead end job and decided to move to California. But am I making the right choice? What if things go wrong? What if I can't make it? What if things don't work out? What if...
"Yo earth to Stella. Hello?" he laughed, waving his hands in my face. Getting me out of my trance. "You'll finally get to be with Robin, gross." He stuck a finger in his mouth sticking out his tongue motioning a fake throw up scene. "Oh yeah, Robin!" I smiled. "Man, long distance isn't fun." My smiled turned into a frown.
Robin was my boyfriend. We had a complicated relationship. Always on and off since middle school. He's always broken my heart. But we were just a couple of teens, right? We decided to finally give our relationship a real go as adults. We've been long distance for a while, it was hard but some how we made it work.
Michael never approved of Robin, I get his reasoning but I have hope that Robin changed since we were young.
"Well, car is almost fully packed. You ready? This is a new adventure for you. Come on!" Michael left to put the rest of the boxes in the car.
I turn to look at my empty room, hopefully for the last time.
I grabbed the rest of my things and headed to the car.
