"God, these 19 hours are brutal!" I exclaimed sinking into my seat.
"Come on, it's not that bad!" Michael laughed. I swear he knew how to turn anything bad into a good thing.
"Easy for you to say, you're not stuck smelling the farts that come out of you from your diet of energy drinks and protein bars!" I pinched my nose laughing.

We still had a long while to go.
19... 18... 17... 16... 15... 14... 13... I counted down the hours. I was so excited, so anxious, a bunch of emotions. I stared out the window looking at the sunrise. What if Robin isn't excited to see me? What if this move is a mistake? What if..

"Hey, we need to put gas. I'm going to make a stop is that okay?" Michael distracted me from my thoughts. "Plus that diet of energy drinks and protein bars is uh... getting to me."
"Ha, yeah that's fine. I have to use the restroom plus we need some more snacks, I'm starving!" I sunk more into my seat.
Once at the gas station, I scanned the sea of snacks looking for something to ease my hunger. My mind raced at all the snacks there was.
Chips, jerky, candy, protein bars...

*briiiiiiing*
I glanced at my phone, Robin was calling!
"Hey baby! How are you?" I missed that deep voice of his. "I miss you, when are we seeing each other?" he asked over the phone.
"Soon, I promise!" I exclaimed. I wasn't lying. I wanted to surprise him with this move.
"I can't wait.. shoot got to go, my break is over. Talk to you later?"
"Of course. Have a good day at work." I smiled as if he could see me.
"I love you, bye Stella!"
I squealed. I couldn't wait to see him.

"Alright! What snacks are we getting that don't involve protein bars or energy drinks?" Michael groaned rubbing his stomach. We grabbed some chips, coffee, beef jerky, anything that wouldn't give Michael the runs again.

After putting gas, it was back on the road again.
12... 11... 10... 9... 8... 7... 6... hours to go. I couldn't wait to get off this car. My legs needed a great stretch.

*briiiiiiing*
I glanced at my phone and saw an unfamiliar number. With hesitation, I answered it.
"Hello?"
"Hello! May I speak to Stella?"
"This is her!"
"Hi Ms. Stella! My name is Amy. I'm calling on behalf of the temporary housing you had applied for. Unfortunately, we're going through changes with our system and lost a bunch of information. I'm afraid we're going to have to resubmit the application and get you into a new housing by mid October, early November."
Are you fucking kidding me right now?!
"Uhm okay, uh that's fine we can certainly resubmit that application."
"Okay! I will go ahead and do that right now! You should be guaranteed a spot either way. We're sorry about that inconvenience."
"No, it's fine!" It wasn't fine, I'm almost in my dream state and don't have a place to live! "Thank you for letting me know!"
"Of course! Have a great rest of your day. Bye -Bye!"
"Fuck!" I yelled throwing my phone on the dashboard. "This would happen to me!"
"Yo, you okay over there? Getting a little violent with the dashboard." Michael laughed rubbing the dashboard.
"This isn't a laughing matter Michael! They had to resubmit my application!" I groaned sinking into my seat.
"You mean... the one for the housing? Where are you going to live now?"
"I don't know, Michael. I'm screwed. The reason I got this housing was because none of my family had space. Where am I going to live now until they get an opening, Michael?" I covered my face with my hands. "Ugh, what other bad thing can happen now?"
