Star City Juvenile Facility, California
11:23 pm 1/5/23The explosion sent waves of heat and grime through the air making the two girls nearly jump out of their skin. Kae immediately threw herself to Mara and pushed her down to avoid any debris or gunfire. She gasped dropping to the cracked cement floor as Kae's arm wrapped over her head protectively.
"What was that?" Mara breathed fighting to catch a glimpse through the dust.
Kae grunted trying to listen. She gave a pathetic pull to the collar choked around her neck. Useless. She would normally be able to crumble it to dust but inhibitor collars prohibited just that. She glanced down at Mara's that blinked red through the cloud of dirt unsettled. It coated her sleek purple hair.
"Come on," Kae urged helping her up and turning back towards where they had been blasted from. Alarms already blared causing a whole shut down of the facility. Guards would be to their cell in no time. "We have to be ready."
Suddenly a shadow stepped through the clearing cloud making the girls leap back towards the locked cell door.
"One step more and I'll scream," Mara warned, "then the guards will come and shoot on sight."
"I'll do you one better," Kae growled cracking her knuckles.
They squinted to see a boy with slicked back golden hair and shades come through wiping off a suit. He looked about their age, just under eighteen, and had a smirk plastered on his face.
"How about we make a deal?" The boy inquired. He sounded like he was on a walk through the park, not just coming from a hole blown into the wall of the most secure juvenile facility in the nation. "I get you out, and you come along and hear what I have to offer."Mara took a careful step forward and Kae held her back, "how do we know you're not making promises you can't keep?"
He frowned and glanced at their collars, "ah, I see."
He reached into his pocket and Kae tensed wondering if he held a gun in there. Instead he pulled out a small remote with a red blinking light.
"Hey!" They heard from the hall. Guards here, outta time.
The mysterious boy clicked the remote and the girls felt the collars click loose. Kae immediately took off Mara's and ripped off her own stomping it into the ground. Things were about to get real.
"You said you wanted to talk about an offer?" Kae smiled, "I think we are ready to listen."
The boy nodded and started back the way he came, "then let's not waste any more time."

Deep Dive bar, Seattle Washington
1:23 am 1/7/23Noise cluttered everything this time of night. Amir was leaned back on a stool at the bar passing a drink through his fingertips. The glass shined like crystal. Of course he was too young to be here, anyone that took a second look at him knew. But they also weren't going to stop him. The last guy who tried was still lying in the alleyway against the stone.
He had practice now, blending in with civilians. By shifting his stark red skin to Caucasian and hiding horns under a hat he somewhat passed. Of course Selkie, his familiar, was stuck waiting outside. The place didn't take a liking to ravens. He didn't particularly take a liking to people.
