'The guys are so gonna kick my ass when they see me,' Ashton thought to himself. He looked around the dingy cell and the shackles that held him to a wall despairingly. What was supposed to be a simple reconnaissance solo-mission had led him to getting captured by Tigerclaw, and thusly by the Shredder. Ashton had been brought before him and it only took a moment for Shredder to declare him live bait and throw him the dungeons, planning on using him to get the turtles. His trusty daggers had been taken from him and his only hope was his friends coming and saving him, and quickly.

The shackles clanged against each other as he adjusted his pink bandana. He leaned back in his spot against the dirty floor and looked through the bars caging him in. Karai - the believed Miwa, daughter of Splinter - was sitting in a chair across from the cell, watching Ashton's every move.

"Karai, can I make a request?" the boy asked, turning his head to lock eyes with her through the bars. She nodded her head, gesturing him speak. "If my friends can't save me today, please hear them out when they speak to you. A wise man told me that to understand reality, you have to listen to everything even if it sounds fake."

Karai barked out a laugh," Ha, you think your friends will make it to tomorrow? The Shredder will tear them down in front of you and make you watch so you know it was all your fault."

Ashton nodded. "Yeah, what happens today is my fault. But that just means whatever happens tomorrow will be on you and whoever is left." He tuned out Karai's reply and got lost in his thoughts.

How did the Shredder plan on telling the turtles of his capture? He wouldn't send Karai out as she was watching him, and Bradford, Xever, and Tigerclaw were very revenge-heavy so he wouldn't risk them killing the turtles instead of delivering the message. He could send Stockman, but risk the scientist running away. 'Maybe he'll send the Kraang,' he thought to himself. 'He doesn't really care about them and they would send the message easily enough.'

Karai suddenly climbed to her feet and unlocked the cell doors, striding inside to grab the shackle chains from the wall. A harsh tug on the chain had Ashton staggering to his feet and following the ninja through the halls. Eventually, the boy found himself standing in the main hall with the Shredder atop his throne. Karai pushed Ashton down on his knees, forcing him to kneel. The teen looked through his - now dyed red - hair tips and looked up the impending doom that was the Shredder.

"The turtles will be here any minute and then the slaughter shall begin. Any last words, you worthless being?" The Shredder asked, not bothering to get off his throne.

The vigilante thought for a moment, before replying. "Sometimes a fate worse than knowing is a fate that means wondering." Ashton did not consider himself a thoughtful person - he tended to think of himself as an asshole actually - but with his parents missing, he had spent more time in his head than most considered healthy. What he had said was merely an echo of what Splinter had told him. As horrible as it would mean for his friends, if he merely went missing, he had a chance of coming back. If they knew he was dead, well, then he was dead.

Ashton did not want to be dead.

The Shredder hummed and rose to his feet. "Well, then perhaps you deserve a different fate. Karai, bring me the device the Kraang left behind." Karai left with a bow, returning a minute later with a Kraang portal device. Ashton stared at the device nervously as Shredder's plan became clear. 'I can see the headline now, 'Local boy missing after his dumb ass got caputered.'' Suddenly, the glass ceiling shattered and four figures dropped down from above, landing on their feet behind Ashton. The Shredder grabbed the boy's chains and yanked him to his feet, turning him around to face the figures. Raph, Leo, Mikey, and Donnie stood there, weapons in hand as they stared down Karai and the Shredder.
