Wooyoung

"Are you going to the carnival?" Seonghwa asked. We hadn't talked much since that day and I felt a little bad. A lot of us were now ignoring him since we found out he was a vampire except for San and Hongjoong. The worst one was Mingi. He had a hard time even being in the same room with Seonghwa.

It was hard to believe but somehow...I was relieved?

I had felt so insane that finally figuring out that what I saw was real...

I still had the nightmares but I felt like I could eat and actually get some hours of shut eye. I wouldn't let anyone know that the only times I really slept without nightmares was when I came here after school and Seonghwa was here.

Yes, I knew he was a vampire. I knew he was the same thing that killed my step dad. But I also knew he was the only thing that could protect me from something like that happening again. It was enough to give me some comfort.

"I don't know." I said honestly. I knew the others were going but I still felt a little uneasy going out in public after finding out the truth. "Are you?"

He nodded. "Hongjoong asked if I could to make sure you guys are safe."

I smiled a little. "Are you now the group chaperone?"

He huffed a laugh. "Maybe? I don't mind."

"Really? It sounds boring to watch over a bunch of humans." I said.

"It's even more boring to have nothing to do. You guys...I like you guys. You seem like you're living your lives. I don't have that."

Knowing he was going to be there gave me a weird sense of security. "Okay. I'll go."

"Have some fun, Wooyoung. Don't be scared forever. The world will keep turning. You should keep living too." He gave me a soft smile and for some reason it made me feel safe and warm.

"Okay. Thank you, Hwa." I said.

"Hwa?" His smile widened. "I like it."

I could see why Hongjoong grew so attached to him so quickly.

I had a hard time not wringing my hands out while I walked through the crowded area. I still felt nervous even though I was the one who decided to come.

Maybe Seonghwa sensed my anxiety because I felt his fingers interlock with mine. I looked up at him with wide eyes but he just responded with a gentle smile.

I relaxed a little, knowing that if he was by my side, nothing could hurt me.

"Is there anything you want to do?" Seonghwa asked.

"Um...I kinda want to go on the ferris wheel. I've only been on one once, when I was ten. My mom took me because I really wanted to go. It was one of the few good memories I had when I was a kid." I said and then I felt myself being pulled. "What-"

"You said you wanted to ride it. So let's ride it." He pulled me along, his grip on my hand tight so he didn't lose me in the throng of people.
