Lumine POV

"Paimon's so full! Thanks for purchasing that meal for me for free, I would have never afforded that otherwise!"

"Ah, well because of that shocking price for the meal, for the next few days, we're going to have to cut back on Chicken Mushroom Skewers."

"What?? Paimon's sorry for using up all your Mora! I won't ever let it happen ever again!"

"Haha that's right, maybe now you'll learn the concept of money."

As we were walking along, I saw a shadowy figure leave from a dark alleyway which they then quickly blended in the crowd.

That's suspicious, now who could that be?

I shoved through the crowd of people to try to catch up to the shadowy figure, only for it to lead to a bridge. Many children and adults were crowded around someone, gasping in surprise and squealing for more. Interested, I joined in the crowd to see what all the commotion was about. I wasn't able to see whoever was attracting everyone's attention, but I could attentively hear their voice. I instantly knew who it was. I shoved through some of the adults to get a clearer view, and as it expected, it was Lyney.

"Boys and girls, as you can see, I have a deck of cards."

"Mhm!" The crowd cheered

"To prove my magic is real, I will shuffle this deck in front of your eyes to prove there is no deception at play."

The magician then shuffled his deck quite smoothly, almost as if he's performed this trick a hundred times.

"Now I will randomly choose someone to choose a card. Hm, you there! The kid with the purple shirt!"

"Me?"

"Yup! Don't be afraid, you'll only be here as my temporary assistant. Your job is very simple, just choose a card, any card!"

Lyney then covered his eyes with a bandana. It was very opaque, no way Lyney could see through that. The kid then thought about it, and ultimately decided to choose the king of spades. He then put it back in the deck. Lyney then closed the deck and shuffled it while blindfolded, in which I admit was quite impressive. Still blindfolded, Lyney chose the card resting on top of the newly shuffled deck and held it towards the audience.

"Was this your card?"

"Woah! The kid shouted "It was it was!"

Lyney then took the blindfold off and bowed, the crowd cheering and clapping. I joined in too, as his trick genuinely baffled me.

"Wow! Paimon thinks that was amazing! But hey, didn't we have to find him so we could question him about the Fatui insignia he dropped?"

Right! I can't believe I almost forgot about that.

"Thanks Paimon for reminding me! You're more useful than I thought."

"Uhm Paimon's confused, was that a complement or insult?"

"Both."

I walked towards Lyney as he was shaking hands with some of the kids, oblivious to my presence. I got the idea to surprise him from behind, wanting to scare him.

"Boo!"

"Ah! Who is it?? Oh, it's you... Well, hello Lumine! We meet again."

It felt odd that Lyney was staring at me like he was observing my every movement, untrusting towards me. I had to do the same, if I wanted to build up trust between us.

"Hey Lyney! I was looking for you a few hours ago but couldn't find you, where were you if you don't mind me asking?"

Last I saw him, he came out of a suspicious dark alleyway in which he didn't want anyone noticing, I wonder what his story will be.
