Chapter 9 - The Latest Case

It's been 2 weeks since Lyney and I got together, and so far the experience is much better than I expected. When Paimon first heard the news, she was flabbergasted.

"Wait wait, you're telling me for the duration of that dinner, Lyney revealed to you that he was a fatui AND asked you to be his girlfriend?! All that information feels unreal...! Are you sure you didn't think about it more?"

"Truth be told, I guess I was a little hasty with accepting his proposal."

I didn't want to tell Paimon about the kiss. I'd imagine her head would explode into bits, and I definitely wouldn't want that happening.

Back to the present, traveling on the Aquabus I was listening to the Melusine, Elphane, ramble on something about recent kidnappings. However, she sounded too exhausted and tired too elaborate. As I was about to fall asleep, Elphane mentioned something interesting.

"Numerous vision users have gotten missing, but it's unclear what the cause is. Currently Lady Furina and Monsieur Neuvillette are aiming to look for the cause, but they are occupied from... Other means."

As I perked up to hear more, Paimon started shouting out of boredom.

"Paimon's bored! Can we look at the scenery or something?"

"Paimon, do you really want to look at the scenery for the 34th time?"

"Well it's better than floating here and doing nothing! Plus Elphane is kinda boring..."

"Hey! Mind you, I guide numerous humans around in my Aquabus and provide them invaluable information about Fontaine as they travel around. But I'll happily be quiet if it pleases you."

"No, wait! Please excuse Paimon, she's just a little... restless." 

"Hmph, well I guess I'll excuse your transgression for now."

I glared at Paimon

"Also, do you have any more information about these missing vision users?"

"Huh? Well I don't have much but I guess I do have some more information. What makes you so intrigued?"

"Well visions users are going missing, I'm pretty sure anyone would find that intriguing."

"Huh... Understanding humans are quite curious. I have more to learn. Now if you must know, all I heard is that these vision users seem to be taken by a formidable group. This group seems to possess something more powerful than a vision, which is quite peculiar. 

Could this be the work of the Abyss? Or perhaps... the Fatui?!

I was starting to doubt accepting Lyney's proposition. 

"What makes it more strange is that the Fatui seem to have no relation in it."

I sighed a breath of relief.

"Well that's all the information I have, were you satisfied?"

"Yes! Thank you Elphane."

I sat back down with Paimon, who seemed to have eaten all the spare rations of food I saved up. I was too tired to even care anymore, Timmie's pigeons should make for a nice meal anyways. I could see Romaritime Harbor in the distance, so I closed my eyes and took a small nap.
