NEXT DAY:
Y/n:
How's he?
Mrs. Choi:
He's fine!
Y/n:
Here, it's for him.
[Y/N holds out a beautiful bouquet of flowers, her hands trembling slightly as she offers them to Cheol's mother.]
Mrs. Choi:
Why don't you give them to him yourself?
Y/n:
He... doesn't remember me. So, it doesn't matter.
[Y/N's smile fades slightly, a quiet sadness creeping into her eyes.]
Y/n:
By the way, where is his girlfriend? I didn't see her around.
[Mrs. Choi tilts her head in confusion, her brow furrowing slightly.]
Mrs. Choi:
Girlfriend? What girlfriend? He likes you. Everyone knows that, and you do too.
[Y/N blinks, the words hitting her like a cold gust of wind. She stares at Mrs. Choi, her face a mixture of shock and confusion.]
Y/n:
Jeonghan told me he was dating someone... That's why he hasn't talked to me. He's been busy with his relationship.
Mrs. Choi:
No, Cheol has never dated anyone. Not until now, at least.
[Y/N's eyes widen, a whirlwind of thoughts rushing through her mind. A quiet gasp escapes her lips.]
Y/n:
O-oh! I must've... misheard. I...I have to go now. I'll come back later. Goodbye!
[Y/N quickly turns on her heel and rushes out of the hospital, her heart racing. The questions swirl around her...Why did Jeonghan lie? Why didn't Cheol contact me? The confusion gnaws at her as she heads back to her house.]
At Y/n's House:
Y/n:
I need to talk to you.
[Y/n says, her voice cold, her gaze avoiding Jeonghan's.]
Han:
Sit down. What's going on? What happened?
Y/n:
Why did you lie to me?
[Jeonghan looks at her, his face twisted in genuine confusion. Hoshi, sitting in the background, watches the siblings with growing concern.]
Y/n:
Why did you lie to me about Coups? Why did you tell me he was seeing someone?
[There was a pause when Jeonghan look at his sister in concern.]
Y/N:
What did I do to deserve this? Why would you do this to me? You knew the consequences... You knew what it would do to me, and yet you still did it.
[Y/n's voice cracks, her words sharp as she shouts, tears beginning to spill down her cheeks.]
Hoshi:
Wait, he what? Hyung... Why would you...?
[Hoshi, too, is left stunned. He had no idea about any of this.]
Han:
Because you're being selfish, Y/n. You're always so consumed by him. You're not thinking about yourself, about your own future! You're failing in your studies, and I get calls every week telling me how your grades keep slipping! Do you think I didn't try to warn you? I told you to focus on your life, to stop living in the past and to take care of yourself.
[Jeonghan pauses, breathing heavily, his face betraying the torment he's been carrying for so long.]
Han:
I'm sorry... I didn't want it to be like this. I never meant to hurt you, but I just... I wasn't brave enough to tell you the truth. Every time I heard the sadness in your voice, I couldn't bring myself to do it.
Do you think it's easy for me, living with this guilt? I've been trapped in my own hell for a year now. I couldn't sleep, couldn't think, because I knew the lie I told you. I lied to my sister, Y/n. And I've been drowning in that guilt every day since.
[Jeonghan's voice breaks, and for the first time since their parents' death, his eyes fill with tears. His shoulders shake with emotion.]
Y/n:
Don't...
[Y/n's voice trembles, but she quickly wipes her own tears, trying to push down the overwhelming sadness.]
Y/n:
Don't you dare play the victim card on me.
[She takes a deep breath, her body trembling from the emotional weight. She turns her back on Jeonghan, heading toward her room.]
Y/n:
If you hadn't lied to me... if you'd just told me the truth, I wouldn't have lost him. I wouldn't have lost the one person who meant everything to me. If you hadn't kept him from me, he wouldn't have stopped talking to me. He never would've thought I was angry with him, he would've never... never forgotten about me.
[Her voice cracks, and she pauses at her door, her back still to Jeonghan.]
Y/n:
You stole him from me. You stole my best friend and the person I loved. I hate you for it. I will never forgive you.
[Y/n runs into her room, slamming the door behind her, her sobs muffled by the walls. Hoshi, still reeling from the revelation, walks over to his older brother, his hand gently placed on Jeonghan's back.]
Hoshi:
Just give her some time, hyung. She's lost everything all at once. Her trust in you, in Cheol... in everyone.
[Jeonghan is left standing there, crushed under the weight of his actions, his shoulders shaking with the heavy burden of regret and sorrow.]
END OF FLASHBACK.
If this was you, could you ever forgive your brother? Or would some betrayals cut too deep? Let me know in the comments. This one hurts. 💔
