After a few meters only, being a human sucked even more in her eyes.
Cordelia was still running, peeking over her shoulders from time to time, dreading the moment Subaru would have appeared just behind her, to take revenge for her words and destroy her new body. She wasn't used to feel fatigued, to feel the the lungs burn in her chest, the nausea and the pain in her legs, she didn't even think about it when she started running and soon enough she felt the need to stop.

<< Do you ever exercise? >>

Asked Cordelia, not actually caring if Yui could hear her, too busy holding her chest and trying to suppress the pain she felt in it.
"Am I having an heart attack?!"

"Deliah! Are you alright?"

<< I think I'm having an heart attack! >>

"Don't worry, you're just tired from the run, you'll be fine."

<< How can humans live like this? >>

The vampiress tried to regain her composure, still pale and trembling.
She felt so helpless in that moment, so weak and that was bringing back memories of her past that weren't pleasant for her.

"It's not just the running, isn't it..."

Said Yui.

"... I can feel your fear. Please, talk to me."

She saw the blonde "ghost" put her hands on hers, smiling and encouraging her to open up.
"Nope. Not happening."

<< I'm fine. I just... >>

She suddenly realized something: they were outside, right out of the garden's borders and into the forest.

<< What? How did I get here? >>

"Running. You didn't notice? ... Well, Subaru can be terrifying when he's angry, I used to get that focused too on the run."

<< I just... I didn't see any of it. >>

Whispered Cordelia closing her eyes.
She hated to admit it, but she felt terrified indeed, Subaru wasn't even chasing her, yet she couldn't get rid of the fear that was clawing at her heart.
She hadn't seen the long corridor, the doors and the garden she escape trough, her eyes still held the imagine of the staircase she had stumbled on that night. She had seen her sons, the stars of the night sky shining over her motionless body, she had seen all of that again and couldn't stop herself before exhaustion. The pain in her chest getting stronger, she could feel the warm blood on her hands as one clung her dress (she had Yui wear something elegant for dinner) right where the heart was and the others roamed her waist, expecting to feel the ripped fabric and the open wounds at any seconds.

"Sit down, you need to rest."

<< No, we need to find Richter. Or at least, we need to get away untill Subaru calms down. >>

"Are you sure?"

<< I am. >>

"Why can't you do as you're told like usually?"
Cordelia sat down, at least to ease the pain in her legs, letting her eyes travel on the nature that surrounded them, searching for the calm a scenario like that could give them.

<< You're awfully calm, Little Mouse, it's your body the one Subaru's going to break. >>

"Oh, he won't. I know it doesn't look like, but he's actually one of the nicest ones."

She felt the bile rise in her throat.

<< How do you find the strenght to be so positive and... and... >>

"Hopeful in the good side of the only one that wasn't a complete asshole the entire time?"

Asked Yui rising an eyebrow and the vampiress nodded.

"Don't know. I guess it's like with religion, when you're about to give up you grab the first ray of hope and hold on to it with all your strength..."

Started the girl.

"I wanted to give up. I gave up. But you gave me back a bit of life, a taste of freedom and even if it's in my head only, I'm not ready to lose it all again."

Yui was looking at her with an innocent and adoring look on her face, it made her feel strange.
"Did I look at Karlheinz in the same way?"
She wondered briefly, quickly dismissing such a thought.
"Impossible, I'm not a dog desperate for a treat."

<< Well, do you have a plan? >>

"You're really letting me decide?"

<< Of course. You're the lucid one at the moment. >>

"And don't make me regret this."
Yui thought about it for a second.

"Well, we can't stay here, it's dark already and humans aren't made for being out in the cold. I know some other vampires that usually walk trough here to argue with Ayato and the others. They'll let us in just to spite them"

<< Did you notice? >>

"What?"

<< You always call those six bastards "Ayato and the others", always. You never use the names of his brothers, nor you call them just "the Sakamaki" or any degrading names. You always call my youngest son first and his brothers are just "the others". >>

"No... no it must be just the force of habit. He always insisted on being treated like the boss of the group. I just couldn't shake the thing of me. You know?"

<< Yui, listen to me, as your friend and savior: you need help, from a professional. >>
