There was something exciting about that night.
While Ayato and Laito weren't at the Mukami's mansion to play, they couldn't defy the call of their nature pulling the strings of their instinct as they got closer to the library.
Azusa had tried to stop them just a few seconds prior, but the superior speed of vampires came in handy when his brothers got to them just in time to tell him that there was something important he needed to know, that they shouldn't protect the spirit inhabiting Yui's body and that the right way to help her was to trust their guests.
The two brothers were finally free to enter the room, dark and silent as the moonlight coming through the window gave a better view on a mere couch, a little coffee table and a lamp. That wasn't a problem of course, even with no light, they could see just as well, the darkness only made their search for their prey more entertaining.« Oh mommy~ ready or not, here I come~ »
« I hope that woman can still see in the dark through Chichinashi's eyes. It will make the hunt more interesting. »Said Ayato looking around.
« Mh... I can smell that depressed prick all around here, but no Little Bitch. »
Growled Laito, the idea of throwing around and breaking every piece of furniture in the room to leave their prey no chance to hide was really tempting, but they couldn't risk angering Ruki and his brothers, not after they had chosen to trust them.
« I'll go this way. »
The room wasn't as big and filled with furniture as others they had visited, the most interesting features were the two shelves of books in the middle that gave them an apparently simple choice: just three paths they could choose.
« You can go first, brother. »
Smiled Laito as his brother chose the left path, leaving him with the middle and the right one.
The vampire tried to see if Yui was in sight, if he could smell her delicate scent, but the other vampires' scent was everywhere and too strong.« I guess I'll have to trust Lady Luck. »
He knew the Mukami brothers wouldn't let Yui escape, not anymore, now that they knew something was wrong.
But Laito wasn't going to let go of the chance to deal with Cordelia that easily, he had to find her before anyone else.
He chose the path in the middle, walking silently between the shelves and listening carefully for every suspicious sound.
He walked slowly, savoring each step with excitement and impatience, his muscles tense and ready to jump at the first sight of his prey.« Where are you?! Come out! »
Of course Ayato had to ruin the mood.
He couldn't even appreciate the thrill of the hunt, couldn't appreciate the idea of giving their dear mother a good scare, of prolonging the anguish and the terrifying sensation of being hunted.
He could still remember that night, when they killed her, he could still see her terrified eyes, he could still hear the pain and fear in her shaky voice, that time he had witnessed a sight to behold and he wanted to see it again.
He craved such a beautiful view, the intoxicating scent of a prey falling to pieces under the weight of her impending doom.
He craved that different kind of pleasure, as much as he craved the usual kind.« Hey! Stop stalling! »
Ayato called out, he was standing in front of him, at the end of the middle path.
« Don't rush, brother, it ruins the fun. »
Laito said with a smirk.
« After all, there is just one place she could be... »
He smirked, turning his head to the bookshelf on his right and pushing it.
He didn't need to push too hard for the piece of furniture to fall, clashing against the wall with a loud noise that was followed by the sound of books falling like raindrops on the floor and a high-pitched scream of fear and pain.« See? She's still here. »
Laito was almost disappointed by how easy it had been to catch his prey, but the idea of "taking care" of her quickly stole the spot of his disappointment.
« Bitch-chan? Are you alright? »
He called out as Ayato jumped on the bookcase, peeking between the shelves to look down at the girl that was rolled in a "ball" and trying to shield her head with her arms.
He could smell the sweet scent of blood already.« Something must have hit her hard. »
Laito chuckled as the girl slowly raised her head, showing a pair of clear green eyes that were wide with fear.
« Hello, mommy~ »
