RAJPUT INDUSTRIES - HEAD OFFICE
Vardaan Singh Rajput
I was at the head office, in my cabin, when my secretary - Tara - informed me that the Chauhans will be coming over to discuss the finalization of the deal. This deal was important to open - up a branch of our industry outside of the nation.
They were looking for a competent company that would sign a merger with theirs and that company would be launched in Europe. Despite being the number one company in India, we needed to expand business outside. I craved to reach new heights every day.
"Can you get the files in the conference room for me to review? Also, prep the meeting room, we are expecting the Chauhans to arrive in an hour, let it be perfect. You can leave." I said to an employee that had come to submit a file.I didnt care what his job was, I pay him so what I tell him to do is his job. Since, this merger would involve paperwork and legal discussion, I called Gurmeet - my bestfriend ever since I have known what one was - he picked up on the third ring. "Hello! Ki hoya yaara?" I shook my head at his unnecessary loudness. "Meeting hai, Chauhans arahe hai merger finalize karne, ek ghanta hai tere paas idhar pohonchne ke liye." I said and was about to disconnect when he said, "Oh khote, meri hearing hai yaar me thoda late aaunga, tum log pehle discuss karlo basic terms to tu bhi janta hoga na the Vardaan Singh Rajput? aur haa kuch bhi sign mat karna, me aaunga zarur fir hi kariyo."
I smiled at his concern, but he knew I wasnt a fool to sign something without consulting my lawyer. Gurmeet owned and ran the biggest Law firm in the city and one of the leading Law firms in the country - Randhawa Law - he was an exceptional lawyer for sure, but, he could be an annoying person sometimes.
I told him to be assured I would wait for him before I signed the papers. He hung up after that as he wanted to get to his hearing in court. He took many Pro-bono cases, he wanted to provide justice to people who couldnt afford good lawyers. He was good at heart.
Soon the Chauhans arrived and I led them to the meeting room.We discussed the presentation and some more ideas, meanwhile Gurmeet rushed into the meeting room. He had changed it seemed, he wasn't in his usual court outfit. He was clad in a suit, he walked in and formally introduced himself as my lawyer and apologized for being late. He then looked over the contract and he sensed that something was fishy so he signed me to put-off the signing for now.
I got what he was trying to say and so I told the Chauhans that I had to leave for another meeting and that I would have it signed and sent to them as early as possible. They didnt seem to mind and happily departed. I asked Gurmeet to follow me and we left the office in my car. I drove as he sat beside me looking over the last of the contract terms. He closed the file with a thump and looked over to me.
He proceeded to say, "They have made the terms in such a way that there is a loophole for them to escape through, in case your merger doesnt work and earn the expected amount, they can leave in the middle of business and that too, without paying a penny. The contract was constructed such that you would have to pay the loss to them instead. Bada wala scam hojata tere saath. Yeh log sahi nahi hai, tu inke saath mat bhidna me bata raha hun."
I sighed for the nth time today, the universe is playing me. I decided to cancel the deal with the Chauhans as Gurmeet said. They cant be trusted anymore. I drove to our usual dhabba and we had lunch there.
._._._._ ._._._._.Vardaan had made sure he put his trust in the right person, but, the Chauhans doing this to him got him pissed. He wanted to ruin them. He knew just how to do it. He smirked with a plan bubbling in his head. He didnt care about right or wrong, he had twisted morals and he was going to implement them on anyone that wronged him or his close ones.
After lunch he headed home, he had some affairs to look over regarding the royal hierarchy and most of all, he needed a champi from his mother. Her head massages could fix anything in the world, no matter how wrong. He loved her to death. He arrived and saw that his mother was already setting up the re - heated food on the dining table, he shook his head and sat down immediately.
"Gurmeet ka phone agaya tha, Dhabbe jaake bhi dhang se nahi khaya, aaja beth idhar aur mere haatho se khaa, tera favourite banaya hai. Kadhai paneer aur mere haath ki roti," His mother said. He nodded and she fed him lovingly. He was only ever this relaxed in the presence of his mother.
She then told him to freshen up and change while she brought some heated oil to massage his head. He rushed to his room and came back down instantly. He knew she would be in the garden. It was her favourite place in the palace. She was waiting and he sat at her feet. She slowly massaged his head. "Jaadu hai aapke haatho me maa, hum bas yahi pe sojayenge." He hummed at the feeling of relaxation.
"Dadu sa ghar aagye? Ya firse kaam kar rahein hai?" Vardaan asked. His mother told him that he had come early. He nodded and they both headed to their rooms.
"Udiyo na dariyo, kar manmani"
