I came home after the incident. I had calmed myself after the panic attack I had in the elevator. It was traumatizing, I haven't had one in a while. Law school gave me enough distraction to keep those disturbing memories away, but what happened with Aakash triggered those memories, it seemed like he was right there all over again, holding that knife and looking at us with murderous eyes. I didn't want to think about it more and so, I stepped into the shower and planned what I needed to do for my first day at work. I was yet to inform Mrs. Shastri. I don't know if she will let me work.
I stepped out the shower and headed to the kitchen to make dinner. I saw Mrs. Shastri come into the dining room and take a seat at the chair. She awaited her dinner as she spoke on the phone with "Sunaina Aunty" I wasn't stupid enough to be deceived with her attempt to make me believe that she was always on her phone talking to a very dear friend of hers. She didn't make or have friends; this woman was poisonous. I assumed it was a new man she wanted the money of. Maybe, out of the fragments of her left conscience she didn't want to tell me about it because I was the daughter of her late husband.
I appreciated it. I wouldn't want anything to do with it neither would I know how to react. I turned off the knob of the stove and served dinner. We had our dinner in silence and right when she was going to leave, I called out to her, "Mrs. Shastri, hume aapse kuch kehna hai." She turned around with an annoying look on her face and moved her head in a gesture of asking me to continue. "Hume naukri mil gayi hai, hum kalse kaam pe jaa rahe hai. Hum iss baat ke liye aapse salah nahi maang rahe, sirf bata rahe hai, hum apni mehnat se li hui degree ko istemaal karna chahte hai. Yaha ke sabse badi Law firm me hume naukri mil gayi hai, humari tankhua bhi bahut achhi hogi." I finished.
She looked at me with an amused look on her face and then she said, "Shaadi tak jitna kaam karna hai karlo, aur tab tak jitni tankhua aayegi tum mujhe dogi, fir Aakash jesa bole wesa hi karna hai. Karlo jitna kaam karna hai shaadi tak." I couldn't believe it, I was shocked, happy, but, also sad. I was glad she didn't make a fuss about me working, but I need my monthly income to leave this hellhole and also to fulfill a promise I made years ago. To Maa. I agreed for now, I was going to run the minute I had money in my account. I can't marry that jerk and neither can I deal with the restrictions and mental tortures of this woman. I head to bed with a new found excitement of working from tomorrow.

I was at my office working on some files for ongoing deals when my phone rang. I saw the time flash '1.04' a.m. I hadn't realized that it had been that late. It was the agent that worked for me anonymously, he was an expert with cyber. He could hack and make shit viral, get me proof I couldn't get legally, I don't know how many times I have fought a trial and gotten proof from him. He sends anonymous tips and I get to win and put bad guys away.
I sent him a recording of the meetings with the Chauhan's and asked him to make it viral online, it won't take time to become the center of attention, they are a rising company and are in the talks a lot nowadays. He got me some E - mails that clearly showed that they were all in on it and that they had planned to play me. I knew that, just needed proof. The media will bombard them first thing tomorrow morning. All the recording and allegations will be online and they will be done and dusted with.
I was delighted to bring them down. It gave a level of pleasure to the blood flowing in my veins and I couldn't help but crave for more of it. I was waiting for the next morning to arrive and for them to be gone in snap. Every time you play a game, play it with the most crucial seconds in mind. You need to press where it hurts. I called Gurmeet next and informed him about the proof going online and he said he will be meeting with me tomorrow at his office to discuss trial strategy, but I knew him better to know that 'trial strategy' was code for 'plans to kick their ass.' But I agreed nonetheless and hung up.
