"You are so a directioner."
____My mothers intimidating stance doesn't have an effect on me anymore, I close the door behind me, "Out." I say simply.
I try to walk past her, into our room but she stops me, "With who, Grace?" I'm confused and annoyed because she said she would be back after the weekend is over.
"Bax?" I shrug and she looks like I just punched her in the face.
"That pink haired juvenile?" I laugh at her description
I scoff, sarcastically, "Yeah that's the one."
"I don't want you seeing him anymore." She stands a bit taller when she says it.
"You can't do that." I say sternly, she wants to talk like this, we will.
"I am your mother, I can do whatever I want." She uncrosses her arms and I wonder how long she's been waiting for me to get home, "And I don't want you seeing him. Where have you been? A party? Was there drinking?"
"We were just hanging out, skating." I'm technically not lying and it's not like I got blackout drunk.
"Don't lie to me!"
"I'm not lying! You're over exaggerating things, Bax is my friend!" I quiet down my voice, remembering that we're still at the Gibsons.
"Just friends, heard that before." She scoffs.
"Don't act like I'm some prostitute! I've been doing good here, I've been helping!" She can't use this as an excuse to haul us back to America, "Why do you hate Bax? He's a good person!"
She shakes her head, "I'm not letting you ruin your life like I did mine!"
I pause and my heart drops, she just confirmed what I already knew, "Right, Because your two daughters were accidents! You never fucking wanted us and that's why you push us away just like you pushed my mystery man of a father away!"
"Shut up." She's never told me to shut up before, "I didn't mean that- Bax is bad news. I hear the rumors too! Queensland?"
"Oh no!" I hold my hand up, "Don't act like you're all good and mighty because you 'want to protect me'. All you've ever done for us is what you want. What you could do to get us out of your way!"
"Do not talk to me like that!" She raises her voice then looks around, quieting, "We will talk about this in the morning."
I shake my head and walk backwards, "You know what, Mom? Summer and I don't need you. So why don't you just go back to photographing war zones instead of messing with ours." I slam the door open, Storming out. I don't even know where i'm going, I just walk.
A few seconds into my walk and take out my phone, tears streaming down my face and press call. He answers after one ring, "Can you come pick me up?"
____
It's not like I didn't have other places to go... Bax is just the first person I thought of.
He pulls up in his sister's car, gets out and hugs me straight away. I cling onto him and cry into his chest, "You can stay at mine tonight." That's all he says before we get into the car and drive off to his house.
He brings me to his room right off the bat, hugging me again, "Tell me what happened G." I don't see Bax serious often, he's serious now.
I let out a choked sob, "I got in a fight with my mom." He sits with me on his bed, "Bax she cant stand me-"
"Don't say that." He pushes my hair back, "Let me guess... she can't stand me?"
I frown and shake my head, "I just don't understand! She said Sum and I ruined her life." The tears keep flowing.
