Zac: so what's wrong with her?
Dr: well Mr Taylor, I know that this might sound absurd, but it was just some very severe period pains. There is nothing to be concerned about.
Zac: (shakes his head) no, that is complete bullshit!! That wasn't no damn period cramps. She was in extreme pain and looked like she was about to die.
Dr: I understand your concern sir, however, as a medical doctor I can assure you that I am fully knowledgeable in this expertise, and I'm telling you that she is fine! The pain has even subsided.
Zac: okay let's say I believe your theory. Then what explanation do you have for the severe pain that she had when I brought her in? Did you run any tests to rule out actual dangerous illnesses?
Dr: actually... I didn't run any tests because Ms Wilson refused to give us permission to draw blood.
Zac: (confused) why would she do that??!
Dr: sir, Ms Wilson told me herself that she is currently on her period and she also disclosed that she does typically experience period cramps, so this is normal to her. She also assured me that she is feeling much better and I can attest to that because all her vitals look okay.
Zac: (getting frustrated) maybe it is "normal" but she has never suffered pains of that magnitude!!
Dr: (also getting annoyed) and how would you know that? Do you have a uterus?
Zac: do you?
Dr: (sighs) that is beside the point Mr Taylor!! Like I just said. Your girlfriend is fine! I understand that you were scared but she is fine sir. In fact, I'm thinking about discharging her within the next 12 hours.
Zac: can I see her?
Dr: sure you can, but I should warn you that she might be a little out of it because we had to give her a pain IV and the side effects include drowsiness.
Zac: noted. So which room is she in?
Dr: she's in room 205. If we're done here then I'd like to go check on my other patients?
Zac: okay but before you go... can you please just explain to me from a medical stand point. Could such severe period cramps suggest certain underlying issues that might affect her in future?
Dr: are you asking me if your girlfriend's menstrual cycle could likely affect her ability to get pregnant?
Zac: (nods) yeah. That's basically what I am asking.
Dr: (chuckles) the obvious answer is no. However, that is obviously dependent on a whole lot of other things that a gynecologist can give you more a detailed explanation of.
Zac: things such as what?
Dr: (sighs) well... lots of things. Like if she possibly has endometriosis or ovarian cysts then that is likely to affect her fertility. But like I said, I'd recommend that she sees a gynecologist because I'm just a general practitioner. I'm not a specialist.
Zac: got it. Thanks for everything, especially for saving her life.
Dr: (smiles) just doing my job but it's also a pleasure.

Zac: (walks in with a smile) hey baby how are you feeling?
Fatima: (woozy) I'm fine, I just feel really sleepy.
Zac: yeah the doctor told me that they gave you something for the pain and it's supposed to make you drowsy.
