--- Kim Nari POV
"Nari! You're finally back!" Sunoo hugs me as I step into the Enhypen dorm.
"Hi Sunoo, I missed you too," I pat him on the back as the others come out.
The maknae line are all in the living room watching a movie with Sohee sitting with Jungwon. "Where were you?" Jungwon turns to me, worry evident in his eyes but it's hard to believe that when he has his girlfriend in his arms.
"I stayed at the hospital."
"Wait. What! You were injured and didn't tell us!" Jake jumps up in panic and runs over, his loud voice waking up Heeseung and Sunghoon from their rooms.
"No, I work as a doctor and surgeon. Don't doubt my skills because of my age," I chuckle.
It's nice to have someone worry over me once in a while. "You should have said so earlier, I thought you forgot us," Niki holds a hand to his chest, offended.
"Alright, alright. Next time then but I have to work soon again."
"But until then, hurry up and come all of you. Eat up!" Jay calls from the kitchen.
It's nice to be back.
---
"Good luck today, Nari. Don't forget to eat," Jay waves me out the door as I head off to work early.
Today is halmeoni's surgery and I want to be extra prepared. It's a stage 4 stomach cancer, meaning that it's pretty serious and I don't want to make any mistake. "Kimmy, breathe. You're sweating so much," Rei soothes. "You'll do the surgery flawlessly."
"Alright Nurse Park," I breathe. "Let's do this."
The surgery goes by for 5 hours as we perform everything in detail. There, and done. I finish up the surgery and breathe a sigh of relief as I exit the surgery room. "Good job, Doctor Kim," Doctor Choi applauds me as I bow in respect and thank him.
Most of the other doctors had also gone in for analysis and moral support to ensure the surgery went smoothly and apparently some apprentices had also wanted to 'observe wondrous skills'. "Finally, it's over," I hug Rei one-sidedly as we exit the hospital for a break. "I thought I was going to flip out."
"You've done this plenty of times, Kimmy. We just have to hope she's fine. It's hard for a 70-year-old to battle stomach cancer but I'm sure she'll make it. After all, you did the surgery and if God's Right Hand can't do it, who can?"
"Right, she'll make it," I try to reassure myself. "She will."
"Also, I heard from Ha-eun that she and Sunghoon have been fighting again like the high school nemesis they are. How's it like with Jungwon?"
"Honestly, I still don't get Jungwon. There are those times when I know he's worried but I don't want him to be because he just keeps confusing me."
"Aw, girl, he'll come around soon. If he hurts you, I'll be here to cast revenge and don't forget our black belt buddy Felix."
"Don't hurt him," I laugh it off lightly as we head out to our favourite ramen shop for lunch.
--- Yang Jungwon POV
I'm still so confused. I'm so confused that I've decided to go to Heeseung hyung for help. "Let me guess, this has something to do with Nari," he raises his brows and looks me up and down.
"I just-I'm so confused, hyung. I know I like Sohee but Nari's just there. I can't get her out."
"You know or you thought?" he muses at my pain.
"Thought," I grumble. "But I don't want to hurt her."
"Jungwon-ah, there's a difference between caring and being stupid. So basically you're hurting your own soulmate because you don't want to hurt someone who's been hurting your soulmate and your soulmate is hurting you because you're hurting her by trying not to hurt someone else."
"Hyung, you lost me halfway through that but in basic terms, should I break up with Sohee? I don't want to continue a loveless relationship, but I don't know how to break it to her."
"Jungwon, you kid, there are times when you have to be heartless to have a heart. Just break up with Sohee in quiet," he advises.
"But I don't even know if Nari likes me back. I mean, I've done so much, what if she doesn-"
"Shush and just tell her Jungwon."
---
Everyone else is in the living room watching Descendants of the Sun whereas I'm in the kitchen with Sohee. "Sohee, I want to tell you something," I begin.
"Won won, what is it?"
"I didn't want to hurt you before and this is on my fault but I think we should break up."
Sohee is silent. So deadly silent that I'm scared. "This is her fault isn't it," she screeches suddenly, causing me to flinch and everyone comes out from the living room and over to us.
She suddenly pulls Nari by her hair and I instantly try to cut in as my members try to pull them apart. When we finally do, Sohee is screaming at Nari, "Why do you want to take him from me! Why? Yang Jungwon is mine! Why did you have to come and ruin everything!"
"Sohee, it's not Nari's fault," I try to stop this but she only bangs our table.
"You love her don't you? Then it's her fault. Stop ruining everything you bitch! What did I ever do to you for you to steal my happiness?" Sohee continues to yell. "You ruined everything, you should just go die like your parents, you orphan!"
Nari freezes up and she suddenly bolts out of the dorm. "Why did you say that!" I shout at Sohee.
"I stalked her like every other girlfriend would do. So what! It's her fault, I never did anything!"
"Sohee, we never said anything before because we knew Jungwon didn't need the extra drama, but you really are annoying, noona," Niki joins me as he plays out a voice recording followed by Heeseung. "Are you really sure you never did anything?"
"How dare you say that to Nari!" I can't help but raise my voice angrily now. "What right do you have to call anyone that!"
"Oppa-"
"Don't oppa me! I'm going to find Nari," I say coldly before running out the dorm to find my soulmate.
I try calling Nari but it goes straight to voicemail and panic is filling me. I suddenly feel a larger wave of panic and sorrow and I know it's Nari's. "Rei, I'll call Rei," I mutter to myself.
"Yang Jungwon, what's wrong?"
"Do you know where Nari is?"
"She's heading to Seoul Central Hospital."
"Alright, thank you."
I hang up without a second thought. I know it's rude but only one person fills my thoughts right now. Kim Nari.
