The encounter with Sehaj shattered Kyle’s heart completely, he saw the woman he adores happy with someone who’s not him, he felt jealous but what pained him most was, that was her happiness, she had never been this happy with him except for that Holi, damn she looked enchanting that day, it was their first day together and he was feeling attracted to her already.

Now, he was in his chambers, the same ones as they were when he was here for his marriage. This was the place where she kissed him for the first time.

He was once again reminiscing about the past until he heard a knock against the door. “Come in” he said and was graced by the presence of Abhimaan Singh Mewar.

“I didn’t expect you here,” he scoffed

“I was invited” he replied softly, his voice didn’t hold any bit of pride it should have held, as he was the culprit here, culprit who ruined Abhimaan’s sister’s happiness so hence Abhimaan got every right to show attitude and anger towards him.

“You know I could kill you this very instant?” Abhimaan said, staring right into his eyes.

“I know, and I won’t hold grudges if you do so, I should’ve died that day itself, and none of this would’ve happened, it was me who deserved that bullet, it was meant for me however Avni saved me being selfless, not caring about herself a bit…..” “And still you went to check on your girlfriend who shot you” Abhimaan said bitterly.

“You know Kyle, all your sins would’ve been forgiven from my side if you would’ve embraced my sister as if she was your most precious possession and you would’ve done anything in your power to save her, but you did just opposite, you left her like trash to die, when all she did was saving you” Abhimaan said, “You know how much I want to kill you right now, for snatching my baby sister’s happiness ever since she got tied up with you?.... More than I want air to live, but I am holding myself back just for sake of my wife and sister…. My sister won’t be able to live if you died and even if she did she would always resent me for killing you” he said.

“Anyways, don’t cause any chaos tomorrow if you really love her as you say…… you should also sacrifice to put her out of harm’s way as you know Valentinos are still after you to venge deaths of both their heads and their princess.” Abhimaan said, “Not saying this as her brother but as someone who is going through same phase as you” he concluded.

“Are all the women associated with the Mewars doomed and suffer” Kyle asked in a low voice, “They do, but in the end they also get best happy endings, my mother was an exception” Abhimaan replied.

“Kunwar-sa…” “You can call me Abhimaan or Maan” Abhimaan interrupted as rational side of him understood what Kyle was going through, if Avni was suffering then Kyle was also suffering equally or maybe more, as she was able to convince herself by notion that he doesn’t love her however he knows she loves him and is still unable to be with her. He is drowning into guilt, immense guilt, which should’ve been faded by now according to his initiatives for repentance.

“Abhimaan, I indeed won’t be there for Avni as her husband or lover, but as a protector, indebted to her for saving my life always” Kyle said, emotionlessly.

“Wanna grab a drink?” Abhimaan asked and Kyle shook his head and Abhimaan left with a chuckle.

Kyle was just planning to head to bed however was interrupted by another knock on the door.

“Come in” he replied, and was greeted by presence of her former majesty Vrinda devi aka dadi-sa or badi rani-sa.

“Dadi-sa please have seat,’ he said, gesturing towards the bed which was closest to her, she nodded and took a seat.

“Come bacha and sit beside me” she said softly.

He obeyed. She signed him to lay his head on her lap.

“When I first saw you two together I declared you as my Ram Siya, but never knew that would be a bad omen for both of you, never realized Ram Siya didn’t have a happy ending” she said while caressing Kyle’s head.

“It’s not about bad omens dadi, but it’s about the unforgivable mistakes I made, we started on a wrong note, and were meant to doom since the start” he whispered softly as he felt sleep embracing me.

“Let her go bacha, I myself will find you someone better than her” she said. “How can I? Every second of the day reminds me of her, walls of my chamber scream her name” he whispered and Vrinda was speechless.

Silence grasped the room, she kept on caressing his hairs and he fell asleep.

Since then he didn’t trouble her again, he didn’t even come to visit her, however looked at her from far away when she came to take her evening walks, sometimes his gaze clashed with hers but she didn’t delay a second in looking away.

Finally the day of her engagement was here.

She stared at her beautiful reflection in the mirror and a sad smile appeared on her face, after all it was the first time she was getting dressed for someone who’s not him, her husband, oops, ex husband.

She moved up the pink bangles, removing her wrist and the nuptial chain tied around it, she should let him go, shouldn’t she.

Other than his small kind acts, what else does she have to hold upon or love about him, that might be our perspective, but for her that man had meant her world.

She untied that delicate chain which acted as shackles for her all these years and finally she tried to release herself from them, she dropped it on the floor as if it never meant something for her, but soon enough she bent and picked up the chain, pressed it against her throat once and then against her forehead and then tied it up around her wrist callously.

.

With Sehaj beside her she sat on the her place over the stage, she kept her eyes lowered but her gaze was fixated over him, who didn’t even spare a glance in her direction today and kept his head hanging low, little did she knew, he was looking at her in the very same secretive way towards her.

“Kisi aur ko dil me rakh kar meri biwi ban na, kaha ka nyaay hai ye gudiya (Keeping someone else in your heart and then marrying me, what sort of justice is this doll)” Sehaj whispered softly. She snapped her attention at him immediately.

“Nahi hain vo humare dil me (He isn’t in my heart)” she stuttered out in a meek voice. “Jhooth unse bolo jo tumhe nahi jaanta ho, abhi bhi samay hai, chun lo usey, roothna manana umr bhar chalta rahega kintu, agar ek baar humari shaadi hogayi to it ends with that, esa nahi hai ki agar tum chahogi toh mai tumhe nahi jaane dunga, par Avni zindagi koi tamasha nahi hai “ he muttered and she didn’t realize when he slipped the ring onto her finger.

Loud applause could be heard from the crowd but her gaze focused on just one person, and it was him, who got up with teary eyes, mouthed congratulations to her, showing a thumbs up and turned to leave.

“Mat jaaiye” the word left her mouth involuntarily. Almost everyone knew what was happening, judgemental murmurs could be heard from the crowd, some pitying her, some referring to her as a fool and even some sympathized with him as they considered that he was also hurt.

He turned hearing his voice, he didn’t knew what she said due to linguistic differences but assumed she was referring to him but once again he found her looking at her soon to be husband, the way she once looked at him, and with this he left with quick strides.

Ik ik this is a short one, but the plot ahead is meant for another part only so I cut shorted this one 😊
