Introduction.
Doomsday Preppers. That's what my parents were called. Crazies, lunatics, and completely insane. I'd heard those titles thrown around my entire life from friends, family and even the news! But I'd only ever known what my parents taught me. The end was coming sooner or later and they'd rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it. Holy fuck did they have it! My father was a General Contractor so he knew everything there was to know about building. My mother was a PHD in horticulture with a masters in nature science, so she had at the know how to live off the land and how to survive with barely anything from the modern world.
They began their journey shortly after they found out my mother was pregnant. They wanted to assure that I'd grow up with the knowledge to not only live, but thrive in a world where nothing was assumed and life could end at any time! So they set to work constructing a safe haven for all of us. A truly monumental structure that could stand the test of time indefinitely. The compound, as I like to call it, was massive building that could've fit three full sized family homes in it with room to spare, outfitted with am indefinite water collection and filtration system, countless greenhouses that has every herb, spice and vegetable known to man! It had countless renewable energy sources from wind, to hydroponic generators to ensure the compound would never be without power. And of course together they made it with all the comforts of modern living, with video intercoms all throught, a home gym, our own private server for internet access, more PCs and consoles than I could've ever dreamed off, a swimming area and the worst one of them all, a fully functioning classroom where I spent most of my childhood learning everything from survival 101, to self defense courses, to horticulture, plant identification, butchering ect.
Little did my parents know that on my 20th birthday, everything they had planned for and panicked for would come to light.
I never watched the news much, but something I kept up on was Idea Copr. They had their hands in everything! From scientific research to the food industry, if there was a company making money Idea Corp was funding and profiting off of it. What the public didn't know was Idea Corp was working on something big. Like change the human race kinda big. They were working on a formula to induce Immortality! However what they didn't plan on was their research going wrong and creating a mutation in humans that caused them to loose all sense of humanity, becoming certifiable monsters! Strong, fast, agile, and most importantly hungry. Their testing had worked! The patience had completely ceased cellular decay, with a massive uptake in cellular regeneration! The only problem was this put to much strain on the brain and caused them to loose all sense of self and they reverted to a very animalistic state, and due to the cellular regeneration burning so many calories, the hunger set in and the patience began resorting to canablism. This must've done something else to the brain as well because now the patience were killing and eating everyone and everything that moved and breathed! Which wouldn't been a problem except the immortality drug they'd taken started to spread to the victims. Which caused a massive outbreak of immortal canabals that destroyed the world!
Nobody could've seen what was to come and nobody could've planned how fast it would spread. Except my parents, who basically did a happy dance around the compound when it finally hit the news that world was ending. That is, until the affected found us...
