- Please let me know when you arrive there.

- Before midnight.

Micah had parked his sport car at the curb in front of the Davenport house, after another dinner at the beautiful hotel in Salisbury. That time Jamie didn't hesitate when entering, she already knew the territory and that there were no ulterior motives from him in taking her there.

He gave Jamie's knee a gentle squeeze, and she quickly approached him and kissed his cheek goodbye.

She couldn't lie and say she hadn't thought thousands of times what would be like to really kiss him. She wanted this and felt ready to put her insecurities aside.

Or maybe it was her carnal side speaking?

With a teenage feeling growing inside her, Jasmine felt her cheeks heat up, so she said goodbye and got out of the car.

Actually, all she wanted was to run back to the car and kiss him. Really kiss him. But she stopped that though and crossed the garden to the porch without looking back. She turned to quickly wave goodbye and then saw the black sports car leave.

The kitchen light was on, and Jamie followed it. Debra was standing at the kitchen sink with a cup of tea. Once again her grandma had seen her get out of Micah's car.

All that joy, anxiety, and all the butterflies that were dancing in Jamie's stomach, everything ended like a lights out. A switch flipped and Jamie knew what she needed to do.

- Grandma?

- Yes.

- Can we talk? - Jamie leaned her body against the doorframe. As tired as that conversation would make her, she needed to put an end to that suspicion.

All that drama was bothering her.

It took a little over a minute, but Debra finally turned to her granddaughter.

- I know you have some sort of block with anyone other than Jordan, but you need to get over it. My relationship with Jordan was amazing, but it ended. The relationship is over, Grandma, and so are my feelings for him.

- You don't know this man.

- I know, but I'm getting to know him more every day and I like what I see. He is a good person.

- I do not trust him.

- but grandma, you don't know him. When I met him, I didn't trust him either. Just like I don't trust a stranger. But trust is built over time.

- You don't know him, J. You don't know who this man is!

- I'm willing to meet him. I'm willing to take risks and most importantly, I'm willing to have a relationship with him.

- J., - Debra approached the table shaking her head in denial but was interrupted by Jamie.

- No, grandma. Please listen to me, if I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, why wouldn't you do the same?

- There are too many bad people in this world. I don't wanna lose you.

The sad tone in Debra's voice made Jamie move closer. Standing in front of her grandmother, she placed her hands on her shoulders.

- You won't lose me. I am here and I will always be.

- Don't repeat the promise your father made.

A pin was stuck in Jamie's heart. His grandma's speech weighed heavily.

- Just trust me, please. Please, Grandma. Jordan couldn't get me out of here and neither will this man. I will always be with you, just trust me. Please.

Debra's sad blue eyes stayed close to her granddaughter's for a while until they hugged each other.

- Okay, J. I will trust you.

- Thank you, grandma. I love you.

- I love you too.
