MONDAY, October 15, 2018

Jasmine could feel the roar of the engine as Micah drove leisurely through the streets of Willow Creek.

Since The Reserve was on the same side of the river as Jamie's house, she wasn't surprised that they didn't cross the downtown. But when they drove right past the restaurant, she was confused.

Her mouth opened and closed a few times as she watched the restaurant fall behind.

- We pass. - She said pointing back.

- Hm. We pass what?

- The Reserve, the best restaurant in town.

Micah snorted.

- We are not going to this place, I made reservations.

- Oh. And may I know where?

- At a place in a nearby city.

Jamie searched her mind for somewhere fancy this side of the state, but it was a futile search. After all, Jamie didn't leave Willow Creek much, let alone go out to restaurants.

Micah pulled onto the highway. The car's headlights lit the road ahead while inside, the two were silent in the dark.

Jamie noticed the GPS wasn't connected, and no music was playing on the radio either. She discreetly started noticing the interior of the car. In addition to exuding wealth in every detail, the car was extremely clean. There was no scattered paper, no parking ticket, not even candy or keys.

The air conditioning was on. Marking 23 degrees on the panel, the temperature kept the air pleasant.

Jamie didn't wanna twist her neck to look at the man beside her, so she stuck to the details her eyes took in, keeping her head straight and fighting the darkness.

Micah kept both hands on the steering wheel. Being a sports car, Jasmine thought he would drive fast on the empty highway. But no, he maintained his direction quietly.

- Want to hear some music? - He finally asked something.

- No. It's okay. - Jamie's voice came out a little shy and he probably didn't believe it. Reaching over to the car multimedia system, Micah turned on the radio and flipped through a few stations until he found one that was playing a popular song.

He took a deep breath and for the first time since getting into the car, Jamie turned to him. Despite the darkness, she could see that his dark brows were drawn together.

- I don't want you to be afraid of me.

Jamie kept her eyes fixed on the man sitting next to her, but he didn't take his eyes off the road for a millisecond.

- You need to understand that I don't know you.

- I know. You must be feeling a little crazy about being in a car with a stranger.

- I felt like this all day, even before I got into your car.

The conversation between the two was loosened up and Jasmine rested the side of her head against the headrest. Her eyes roamed the side of Micah's face. She couldn't stop looking at him. He was so handsome, Jamie was enchanted by the perfection of his face, but also a little intimidated and confused.
