THURSDAY, May 16, 2019.

Jasmine felt a knot in her stomach. Her blood ran quickly through her veins, spreading all the anxiety throughout her body.

The day of the fateful lunch with Micah's sister had arrived and all the doubts and disappointments she had been carrying that week had disappeared like the snap of a finger the night before.

On Saturday night Jamie took a while to sleep, considering calling Kate and asking to stay at her house for a few days. But despite liking the waitress, she knew her too well to know that soon all city would find out about the fight between her and her grandmother. And that wasn't what Jamie wanted. Despite all the crazy theories that popped into her mind, she loved Debra and didn't want to hurt her feelings. But when Micah left on Sunday afternoon, he left the room reserved for another week for her. At first, Jamie didn't want to accept, but she knew very well that she needed some time alone.

And only when Thursday arrived, she realized that she didn't have any clothes to go to lunch. Although Micah was simple around Jamie, she was aware that his family had a lot of money. They had totally different social conditions, another status, another life, another world. And his sister was certainly nothing like Jamie.

Jasmine spent the night tossing and turning on the bed, imagining what that meeting would be like. And what outfit would she wear?

She liked Micah, and she wanted his sister to like her too.

She caught the first bus to Willow Creek that morning. It was a beautiful day, spring was coming to an end, but there were still flowers on some trees. And despite May being a month with a lot of rain, the sky was blue.

The bus stopped on Main St, and before heading home, Jamie took the opportunity to grab a coffee. She had spent the whole week without engaging in conversations with people and that day was no different. Lynn and Toddy realized something was wrong and didn't ask questions. But Davina, Susan, and Nora Lockwood on the other hand, looked at her with concern.

Do they all know what Grandma hides? Jamie wondered. A spark of anger rose within her and with her coffee in hand, she quickly walked out the Diner's door. With a glance back, she saw the three of them watching her through the large window.

- You got to be kidding me.

Her legs moved quickly through the streets of the small town to her house. Her feet hit the floor like a tantruming child. All of that was tearing her apart.

She walked past the door and made no effort not to let it slam. Everything was silent but as she crossed the hallway to the stairs, Jamie took a quick look into the kitchen and saw her grandmother standing in front of the counter. A mug was between her hands.

Seeing her made Jamie stop. Her breathing was strong and uneven.

- You're not going to tell me, are you? - Jamie asked, impatiently.

- No, I made a promise. - Debra's voice was calm. She sipped the liquid from her blue mug, without taking her eyes off her granddaughter.

- Answer me something then. - Jamie walked slowly towards her but stopped before entering the kitchen room. - Are they my real parents?

Debra's pale blue eyes widened for a brief second, and a pained expression came over her. Jamie's question seemed to go like a knife into her heart.
