A/N: bold italics will be me when I interject or put a note before or after the chapter; y/n is fem btw

I was sick of my family, sick of this stupid town. I wiped my face trying to stop crying. My legs burned from running and jumping over fences.

I hiccuped trying to stop the flood of tears falling down my face. I ran into an odd looking forest not caring much anymore.

I jumped over branches and swerved around trees. I ran down a hill and tumbled into a tree leaning against it to rest for a moment.

I took some deep breaths and looked around the forest I had ran into, getting a closer look at it. They were tall and skinny with tufts of all shades at the top.

Tufts? That's odd why not leaves? My curiosity washed away any tears I had as I walked through the forest.

I heard yelling and ducked behind a tree, peeking around the trunk. I saw an really tall guy and an.. orange peanut? I shook my head confused and leaned a bit closer, still behind the tree, trying to listen in. They were to far away for me to catch anything they said.

I list my balance and stepped on a fallen branch and immediately hid behind the tree again breathing hard. I'm not in any shape to see people.

"What was that?" I heard one voice say.

"Idk a barbaloot maybe?" Another, older voice said.

I breathed in and out, trying not draw anymore attention to myself. I heard footsteps approaching and quickly decided to make a run for it.

I poised myself and waited. I heard a footstep that was almost to the tree and took off, leaping over branches and weaving around trees. I came to a stop at a river pausing for a moment and leaning over.

I looked around a noticed I looped over to the front of where the person and thing was. Shit. I was right in front where they can see. I looked down at the river and back up. I can't swim so that'll do absolutely nothing...

I stood there my thoughts droning on and I didn't here footsteps approaching until a branch cracked right behind me. I screamed and jumped landing in the water.

I frowned having now been startled and wet. I looked up to see the tall man before standing over me.

"I'm so sorry miss. I didn't mean to scare you." He said softly as he reached his hand out to me.

I looked at his hand cautiously and slowly took it and had him pull me up. I stood up beside him trying to get whatever dirt or water off of me.

"I'm really sorry." He said again. I shook my head

"Don't be. I shouldn't have been in the woods anyways.." I said, frowning as I remembered why I ran into the woods. "You don't happen to live here right?" I said worriedly.

"I just moved in like 4 hours ago." He said motioning towards a tent like cottage. "Either way I don't mind you being here. I didn't know people came here."

"Really don't, but I didn't realize I ran into here. I kinda don't wanna go back to the town right now so is it ok if I just hang out here for a couple days." I said looking everywhere but at him. I never liked asking people for something even if it was needed for survival.

"Yeah! Yeah." He cleared his throat. "I don't mind. C'mon I have some towels you can dry off with inside." He said facing towards the cottage-tent.

Later that night we sat in the kitchen eating dinner. I had gotten comfortable around him, and it was a lot easier to talk to him without being awkward.

He talked about his family and why he left home. I listened intently watching how his face lit up when talking about his invention.

"But most people don't like it.." he said dejectedly.

"Well that's stupid. It's an amazing product. I mean seriously the uses for that thing is awesome and it does what multiple tools do but it's only one? That is very useful. They are too blind to see that." I said confidently, picking up dinner plates and setting them in the sink.

He looked up at me and smiled. "Thanks y/n" he said softly. We had introduced ourselves earlier and I felt happy that he said my name.

I smiled at him, walking over to pick up his thneed he made earlier. I ran my fingers over the soft fabric.

It was salmon pink and oddly shaped. I plopped it onto his head trying cheer him up. "See? Very fashionable."

He laughed at it, pulling it off his head. "I wish some people could see it like you do." He said.

"How about you go to sleep and refresh your brain and come back to it in the morning. You'll see the beauty of this, just like I do." I said pulling it out of his hands and setting it on the back of a chair. I then pulled him up and out of his chair and over to his bed.

"You should take the bed." He said. "I can take the couch." I looked over my shoulder.

"I really don't mind sleeping on the couch. You take the bed." I said pushing him down and pulling the covers over him. I walked off to the couch turning out the light as I did. "Good night onceler." I said as I laid down onto the couch.

"Good night y/n" he responded quietly.

Holy mackerel. That was a long chapter.
